Here's the rules, post a screenshot of your best steal, we'll all agree on a winner at month's end, and that person will be admired by the masses. Screenshots required to participate.

    my entry

The Ghost Ship in my pack was the boat he was speaking of. I recalled back to the bank and I'm guessing he just noticed. My first boat lockdown for the Despise Marble !

There's a lot of marks running around. Get your thieves warmed up. In probably 30 mins of play time I've gotten 3 power weps 2 vanqs, a boat, two runebooks, a dyed music stand (that I sold last month) and misc crap.

My sell back total is at 5k so far, as it increases I'm going to use the funds to get a thief guild going. My new goal is to only deco and profit from stolen items.

    This is awesome.

While I despise thieves in general, they are a crucial and legitimate class that makes UO so great. I have greater respect for thieves who play their role with class (this doesn't mean they give things back, just that they play a good role as a thief). I feel that the challenge for stealing in town should be greater because although it is inconvenient to get guard wacked from an npc call through the wall, town thieves are not exposed to the same level of risk. If you die in town you lose what? Your 2 pieces of mandrake that you stole from somebody who was afk? While the rest of us, if we die out in the field lose all our survival gear.

I know I know, most people don't carry house keys, boats, or rares in the field, but you might catch them at their houses, or a friends house.

TL:DR thieves are a good class, but get out in the field and steal.

Good thief: Steals your stuff without you even noticing

Bad thief: follows you around near the bank wearing the ever stylish death robe

Worst thief: follows you around the bank and then outside of guard zone to get wtfpwnd

I love the thief class definitely, but please, have some class. (stab meant at noob thieves not the great shadow jack of course)

Wise, a thief that steals outside the guard zone is far better than one who tries to steal inside of it.

A thief trying to steal inside the guard zone is a gambling addict who's one step away from spending 20 years with an ashtray and a slot machine in Vegas. It's zero-effort, basically zero-reward, and seems like it's just people effing around for the tiniest bit of gratification.

A thief trying to steal outside the guard zone at least has the prospect of escaping, if unnoticed. And if noticed, it's still up to the victim to exact justice on the thief and get their item back. I have seen many unmounted thieves get caught red-handed in the wild and survive and escape harrowing fights and dashes through dungeons to keep their bounty.

Town stealing is just as fun if not more so than dungeon stealing. Both are different and have their ups and downs. Town is better for some things (people aren't going to take bod books, boat keys, etc. to a dungeon unless they are daft) so the whole in/out of guardzone and what makes a good thief is kind of irrelevant. I find it best to look everywhere, though I think dungeon stealing is my least favorite. I'd rather leave you alone to get rich in the dungeons so you have more pretties to carry around in town. :)

Grats on the music stand, I forgot I had it in the pack, thought you only got my marble crafting mallet !!

Was decorating and got sidetracked on other toon. :)

LMK if there is a buyback on it less than what I paid for it originally

Sorry shadow. I might have led your op slightly off topic. Any other thieves out there wanting to post their victories?

pro tip: with a psuedo forum name you might be able to conceal your identity. (I hear email accounts are cheap these days)

I got your 2 plat too, but I didn't see the bod book, either you had a lot of junk or I was distracted. I've only been playing for a few mins at a time cause I have a lot going on. But I'm happy stealing vanq bows too :)

I think i'm impressed by a thief in a good disquise. I feel like I'm rarely surprised by a thief, it's always a guy in a death robe or newbie clothes not even disquised humping you at the bank.

The day Jack starts an active thief guild will be a hilarious day, at the misfortune of others. I shall obtain a lot of Lawlz from your group I'm sure.

Some more photos, the first is Landarr's hello after the tower loot (I think the best things I got were 36 plat and a monster bash trophy) and then I found Blaise afk and relieved him of his runebook and took a count, so Jack is having to take a short vaca for a couple of days :)
