The morning broke cloudy and dreary. I stepped out of my home and surveyed the landscape around my home. The dampness krept slowly into and around me. Its cold fingers began to chill me. I pulled my cloak tighter and hurried to the Knight's Tower. I opened the great doors, quickly unlocking and locking the doors, and hurried upstairs to the library that housed the runebooks. My mind could not seem to let go of Vlar's disappearance. I could not push the uneasiness away. Some troubling spirit continued to afflict me. "Perhaps he has fallen in some terrible dungeon or cavern and cannot free himself," I thought. I tried to push the thought away. "He was after all.. He is after all very cunning and shrewd." *Must remain positive, Oni* I reached the library. I ran quickly to the stack of books titled 'Dangerous places'. "Mayhaps the evil mages have him," I thought. In a flash I was there. I scryed the area. Nothing. No sign of Vlar. Well almost nothing. A lone hellcat tried to impersonate a threat. He learned quickly not to mess with an upset woman. Undetered, I 'sped' back to the runebooks. My thoughts were running again. "Perhaps the gazers know of his location." Time moved aside, and I was gathered close to the gazers. The Elder of the Gazers had not had Vlar in his sight for quite some time. Once again, I was left to my thoughts. "Where next, Oni?" I began to try to answer myself with places. "Oh! Where?" Back to the 'books' I rushed. "The first book, first page, first place I put my finger on..." "Yes that is what I will do next," I concluded. I closed my eyes, spoke the words and touched the stone. "Rats and Toads?" But no Vlar. I dispatched the nuisances and sped down the dark corridor of the passage. I stepped out into a bog. Still no trace of my Friend. I stood for what seemed like an eternity staring into the swamp. It seemed I was frozen in place. I could not move. The whole world seemed to stop, except my mind. "Where to now, Oni?" "Towns?" "Yes, that is a good idea," I concluded. "He might have been see in some town." I bade the bog goodbye and opened a portal to the first town in my 'book'. I began to ask the local populace in Cove of Vlar. Zero, zip, nada. A traveler suggested we go to Vesper. Vesperites hadn't seen him either. nor Magincia. My search was futile in Jehlom also. Where are you, Vlar? I want to find my friend...
I myself live in Vesper and have never seen Vlar there! Although I must add that I think of myself as a Vesperian not a Vesperite. I thought vesperite was an infection that elderly Dragons got on their scales!
Could be that. Or perhaps it is some precious ore found only in the Vesper area. I chose the word for sake of clarity. Didn't want to offend anyone as Vesperian is quite close to vegetarian. Not all Vesparians are vegetarians. *Takes note to take a poll on correct version of citizens of towns names* Thanks for your vote, input and information. Vesperians 1; Vesperites 0
Ahh, well as for Vesperite being a precious ore that certainly sounds more appealing than an infection on a Dragons unmetionables! I just hope you don't have to extend your search to Moonglow as I've no idea how you'll address the local citizens there!
Being of the magi class and hailing from that region, I would think to call them Moonglowians as much of the time my hands are 'aglowian' with the elements of my craft. Again, thanks for the stimulating conversation.
