Haha, I just heard about this over the mic on XBL and had to find the thread after I went to validate the story.

I was wondering who blew the security and left the door unlocked but now I realize it was me moving my char inside after a friend was playing around drunk and making fun of how stupid this game looks. lol I let him run around on my red and just brought him back inside and walked away.

Nice score. I'd buy that spear back for a fair price if you're interested. It technically belonged to someone else.

you're my new hero Blaise. Thank you for this tempered reaction.

I know that you, being the most eminent self proclaimed King of OoO, probably don't need financial assistance yet even still I'd be willing to contribute to help buy back this lost treasure of your crown.

It is all in good fun my friend, part of this wonderful game we all play. Your Red ran out of your house without shutting the door behind you. The door was locked.

If you are on IRC shoot me a PM and we can talk about the spear. Losing equipment that isn't your own is a terrible thing.

I miss Blaise posts. I've learned a lot about playing UO in this era from reading little tidbits he leaves in his rants.

    This thread is still WINning.

Gestas make his first entry... courtesy of a courtyard rune from a fellow thief (a much richer fellow thief!).

I sat and waited for nary 3 hours before the owner arrived, quickly flitted through the door and through his table wall. But alas (for him), I was quicker and stealthly crept through the fortress (my first time in such an expansive UO building). He quickly recalled off, and I was left to mine own devices...

I spent nearly an hour crawling around, leaving no stone unturned, until I had loaded up to the max number of items and then gated out! Made off with loads of anniversary clothing (including a few 1st year jewelry pieces), a few AMIBs, a few rares (I think), a few decent slayer weapons, lots of BOD reward cloth, 10 clothing bless deeds, 10k each reg (or so), loads of rune books (I don't have many), some great colored sandals, pilgrim's gear, leprechaun gear, and a few full BOD books.

If I had a house to store these goods, I could have walked away with much much more. But alas, no plot bears the Gestas name yet - perhaps in the future - so I settled for what I thought might be the most valuable. Leaving hundreds of slayer instruments, gargoyle shovels/axes, fortification powders, half finished BODs and BOD rewards behind hurt mighty, but it is best to not be greedy.

I'm happy to sell most of it back to you for a discount if you'd like. I don't have much need for most of it.

To be fair --- you never revealed once, that fort was stuffed to the gills --- I took 120 items + some regs. I left hundreds and hundreds of rune books, shovels, resources, instruments, and everything else imaginable. I'd bet I walked out with only a sliver of the value you have in there.

Send me a PM or look me up on IRC (Gestas). I don't want to see anyone long-term hurt by a completely legit aspect of the game... be well.

Understood. The offer stands, and I'm happy to talk anytime. I may end up selling some things on the forums, but I'll wait a bit so you can think it over.

Be well, and best of luck with the new mage and new bard you are building.

Feeling sorry for EFR too, he's a nice fellow, but it's a great heist executed without any lame methods just by using his speed after hours of waiting for his chance. Gratz, Gestas. Nice entry to the community.

(My vote goes to Gestas as best looking homeless guy of the Shard)

When you work hard to achieve things you should protect them at all times. This could easily have been prevented.

I also think it's much harder work to make a living as a thief than it is a tamer, bard, or whatever it is you use. It takes many hours of waiting, being patient, creative, flawless technique, attention to detail, and persistence. As thieves we have many failed attempts, and hours wasted.

Along with how difficult it is being a thief, our efforts would be completely useless if you would simply detect hidden upon entering your homes.

Don't be bitter, it's part of the game.
Don't downplay the thieves style of play.

**On the other hand** I guess i can't expect a thief to be respected, So disregard everything above this, but know that it is your own fault.

ElleFeyRa, long time player (2y+). Got his fort partially looted. See the posts above for the story.

To be fair, I believe the house looting was just the last cause to quit, if he is indeed quitting. EFR seemed to be fed up roughly 1mon ago already after probably encountering some low life behaviour by cool PK kids (you know what I mean, the ones without class).

House looting and heartbreak... the oldest tale in UO.
