ALL TIME FAVORITE: Jehlom. Back in the day I saw the "fighters pit" and got a nerdgazim over how cool it was living in a gladiator city. I totally thought I was totally more HARDCORE than my friends for "living" there instead of some sissy city like Scara Bre or Brittain. With the graveyard like 2 screens from the bank and places to sell all my crap I made a ton of noob money grinding on the stuff there. I got my first taste of Pk/PvP action and saw my first RED there in the bull pens when I would gather leather. Hell, I even had a "house" and would log off in. One of the rectangular NPC buildings N/E of the bank! I also remember finding the jewelers after stepping on the weird bathroom tile thingies and selling back prolly 8k worth of gems for the first time. I even FINALLY goaded another player into the pits for a friendly duel. Im pretty sure he was a fencing tank mage. Unfortunately for me and my 60ish fencing and store-bought kryss/buckler combo, he used AFK-Style and literally stood in one spot auto attacking me with his short spear until I died.... ...shit man... So many memories in Jehlom. Good times. LEAST FAVORITE: Yew. I remember, it must have been one of my first few if not THE FIRST character I made, I deleted him because of Yew... I remember having a blast roaming the world and going to all the different cities because the closest thing I played to an MMO at the time was Diablo and Starcraft. I was completely jazzed that there was MORE THAN ONE TOWN. I went from Brit, to Trinsic, to Scara on foot then my buddy told me about moongates and that there was one just north of Scara. I remember picking Yew cause it only had three letters and my adolescent brain figured it would be a small and efficient town like its name. Mind you, this was before I even knew help stuck was even a thing. I wandered in circles for HOURS trying to find my way back to SOMETHING. I gave up and decided it would just be faster to roll a new toon. I honestly NEVER EVER went back to Yew. To this day, even with UOAM, Ive NEVER went to Yew. Not until this shards big business vendors have I ever even considered that going back there would be a good thing. I remember in my first few months, a buddy wanted me to help him kill liches in the Yew cemetery. I told him to screw off and come with me to deceit and kill liches there... ...on an island... ...with no help stuck... ...that we could only recall to and from... ...with only a vague idea that boats were even a thing... ...because it was safer than trying to navigate through the forests of YEW... Yeah. As far as I go, Yew is fucking blacklisted in my book.
Minoc was pretty cool. I thought the mining caves/mountains right outside was a really vibrant area. There'd be so many miners just working away! It really had a mining town feel to it. Obviously, I was terrible and I used to practice stealing on the miners.
Brit, the shops were numerous, the pockets and items plenty, the guards corrupt, and plenty of places to take advantage of the layout with teleports, sewer hops, clever tricks, and etc to make fast getaways, the cemetery full of action. Picture a Brit with 100 or more people and you'll know what I'm talking about. 2nd favorite Glow - the teleporters and the t2a tele are fun 3rd Cove - it's just a neat little mini town
Moonglow. It was small enough and compact enough to have some really solid Guild Wars back in the day there. Many fond memories of chasing people through the teleporting maze in the middle of the town in an effort to kill them. Also, the proximity of bank to moon gate and everything else in close quarters was nice.
Vesper for sure. It was where I first started back on LS in 2001ish. I loved fighting on the beach. The random orcish magi spawn was always a tense fight. And the music... ahh. It's what's making me start this server. I hope to log in and play some tonight! Very excited. Moonglow/Skara tied for 2nd.
And my starting town would be Moonglow, so i did in here as well just to feel closer to my blind devotion days, ahh the nostalgia.
PAWS A city by the people, for the people... and for the time being nearly forgotten. Get yourself to PAWS! *searches the horizon for Jupiter* Maybe Crawworth knows?
That's a tough one. Aesthetically I've always been a fan of Trinsic but I never spend time there. For usefulness ( at least for my needs ) would be Delucia. For atmosphere probably Ocllo -- I'm a sucker for that somber music.
