A tamer takes a bit of time to make, but is hands down the king of farming. Also great against a PK invasion with ‘all guard me’, as long as you’re proficient in healing yourself with magery/potions (and sometimes wands).
Bahama Mama - the professional transportation service for moving anything from one place to another. Hiding, Stealth, Magery, Meditation, Eval Int, magic resist, tracking. This toon has no limits, imho.
Are you keeping tracking in hopes that one day it will work again , or are you just tracking NPCs/animals? I guess it is still priceless for event mobs..
My poison dexer is my main one!!! With him i can go wherever i want, without pets, without expensive gear.... He can beat everything? no.. But is hard to get killed.
Khal'Des - Eval Resist Tamer The argument for my build - same as everyone else - I can do anything in the game. Limitless. Able to do PvM and PvP (theoretically speaking). http://www.uorenaissance.com/player/1146101
Provo bard Treasure Hunter I think the template is.... Lockpicking Cartography Magery Resist Provo Music Meditation I've made a lot of money on this type of build, and when the dungeons got too hot for a while with pk's, I did nothing but T maps (usually level 3's). If I had to play one character only, it would either be this build, or: Archery 75 Tac anat heal magery 25 Fishing Resist Melee - swords or fencing. Great RP build for either pirate or brigand, can fish with it, and pvp or farm some monsters with. Enough magery to get around with a runebook and scrolls. Use high level bows to get up to 100 archery.
So you decided turning up just like that?! In this meaningless thread!? This without sending an official greeting card to Franz Pfniffel first? You should add "non-gentleman" or "scoundrel" to your post!
That sounds like a challenge! I challenge you to a UOR championship boxing match! you name the place and we'll set up a ring! Winner gets to give the loser a permanent title!
Challenge accepted! Remember that I won the rights of marrying Sherelle in our last competition! I'll gladly seize the opportunity in eternally entitling you 'Obstreperous Rapscallion'!
I don't really have a main. I usually play 3 characters, Crafter, Miner/Resource Gatherer, Fisher Mage, depending on my mood. I like to do a little BOD collecting and filling when I have the inclination, so I have a second medium levelled crafter to help with that. I'm not really into dungeon hopping, rare collecting or house hoarding. I just have a two story main house, small vendor house, warehouse SST and mining house. These characters and modest houses are what I need to be able to do what I want to do ingame. They don't have elaborate character builds. They just have enough skills to be successful at what I use them for. I guess you could classify me as a casual player who plays UOR just to relax and have fun. Fortunately, UO is the kind of game that allows for that without requiring everyone to join the levelling race to get the uber armor and weapon dungeon drops that become obsolete the moment a new expansion is released, as in so many other games. Having to start the whole thing over again is not my cup of tea. Because of this, I believe that UOR is a crafter's heaven. Once you max a skill, you don't have to worry about it anymore. A GrandMaster is a GrandMaster for real and forever in UOR. I digress. I believe that a character build in UOR is whatever skill you are effective and comfortable with to do whatever you want to do in game. It is also THAT flexibility that makes this game GREAT
Since Ive got my tamer guy up a bit after this thread started and started using pets for stuff. Ive never EVER had a tamer until now and Ive changed my opinion a bit. If I was gonna stay casual, 5xProvo main for sure. If I was gonna go hard at it for like a year-ish, and then go casual, Id do something like this: Taming Lore Vet Magery Med Music --> Resist Peace --> EvalINT Id put the hours in, make a tamer. Do the quests and get 4 bond slots. Id fill those bond slots with damn near perfect pets with peacemaking to make it easy, then drop music and peace and raise eval/resist. PvP On a nightmare, Farm with dragons.
Taming Lore Vet Magery Resist Hiding Meditation Because i love trolling pks that come. Nothing interrupts their spells more than watching them have to cancel their explosions to do a reveal. Love my battle miner Mining Sword Tactics Anatomy Music Peace- 80 Heal-90 Magery-30
My current favorite is my battle resource gatherer... why? Well, why not! Mining Lumberjack Tinkering (to make all he needs in the field; hatchets, tinker kits, pick/shovels, etc) Swordsmanship Tactics Anatomy Healing(75) Magery(25 for scroll recal, night sight, strength if overloaded)
Heal/stun mage. Although still a bit of work to finish him. I just can't main a non built for PvP character. Never have. Never will.
Swords Tankmage - Inefficient in PvP and PvM, but lots of fun. I do have a tamer however, multiple crafters, a bard, ironman templates, fishers, etc... to support it. If i had to pick one single overall template like in a siege ruleset... I think Provo Mage (with wrestling, screw hiding) would be my first choice because hes good in pvm and useful in many pvp scenarios + able to do 5x duels. If you more of a Dexer person however, you will propably enjoy something like a fencing med warrior, they are also versitile. Joining an RP guild and making a template for that group is also something i enjoy. Like Jupiter, i roll a Fencing/Archer Dexer with low magery (only recall scrolls) in a brigand setup. Also played a "Dwarf" (mining, blacksmithy, macing) over the years, which i realy enjoyed.
