I've been tooling around on test playing with archery as of late. Having recently learned the hard way that test isn't a mirror of live, I thought I should pose this question to those experienced to confirm my suspicions. I've been doing some pretty amazing things with it on test and wonder what other's experiences have been. How is archery in PvM? What do you use it for? What do you like about it? I've read through the "archery needs a buff" thread. Granted, I can't control the outcome of a thread but I'd like to discuss the current state of archery as it stands right now more than several pages of suggestions to improve it.

I am done wasting my time trying to convince any member of the staff that archery is lackluster and every time I mention it and get ignored. Tela said himself if 50 people wanted it changes would be made. As for the countless threads about archery the problem with archery keeps getting ignored for Gems and other useless items that have no bearing on playstyle. I have tried countless times for different types of changes and or to even to test them on Dev and or Test. Staff knows there is a problem when a Hally can hit for 5-49 +Tactics Damage, faster than a Bow and has a special. I have spread my opinion about testing different types of specials, reduced swing timers, accuracy changes etc etc. For now I will just sit in my tower collecting free plat, ctf and the occasional event.
Well shit, I frickin' called that one. * le sigh * I suppose I deserve it though, I've derailed plenty of threads in my time. To try to salvage something here, I've noticed that archery (PvM) appears to do very well with lower to mid tier content. It has a high front end DPS punch that burns down these middle of the road mobs down quickly. However, once the mob's avoidance metric (tactics) kicks in on higher level mobs... I missed A LOT. But then... Once I found a rhythm of keeping an eye on distance and my character's movement, I began to miss less and overall do better with it.
No Keza. That's a "what's wrong with archery" thread. I'm curious as to what people ARE using archery for currently.
Ahh, well I know some use it for battle mining/archer turret and fishing. I use archery for fun doing champs and stuff on my scorpion ranger.
I've tried it for battle mining and fishing, which sounded great in theory, but I found it much less effective than other melee classes. Sorry, can't think of any uses.
Even if you leave out all of the balance concerns, the (lack of) repairability is maybe even a bigger problem.
I used archery briefly when I did some battle mining a couple months ago (turrets - super effective). I also use one archer/fisher during fishing tournaments. It's a good supplemental group skill, but not really effective or fun on a standalone PVMer (in my opinion). I would love to see it archery perfected.
