Hello all, I'm new to the BOD system (which didn't exist during my first UO career). I've been collecting the tailoring BODs for a while now but I've given to understand that while some of the large BODs are extremely valuable (i.e. those that produce bless deeds) some are simply more effort than they are worth. I found this excellent summary of which BODs will produce which rewards: http://www.uorenaissance.com/info/bod/tailor.html What remains unclear is what the approximate value of the various items on offer. If anyone has any suggestions or a link to a cheat-sheet that would be very helpful! Thanks all! (P.S. if this post rightly belongs in a different forum - my apologies!)
Tailor bods for CBD's (100k) and mask dyes (200k-1mil depending on hue) Smith bods for runic hammers (40k-35 mil depending on which hammer), standing armors (1 mill all day), and phoenix armor deeds 300-400k each some small exrtras like fort powder, colored shovels, bod cloth and sandies.
Thanks Larloch! What's the word on the leather dye, stretched leather, bear pelts, and hanging leather / studded armour? Anything saleable? Much appreciated.
Leather dye tubs are damn near free, stretched leather 20-40k, bear rugs 20-60k ish polar bear worth little more, hanging studded is garbage...you can buy for like 5-10k a piece. hanging regular leather is kind of a gem tho. Never seen a whole set go up but I value my set between 600k-1 mil....kinda rare. Everything is saleable, just depending on if you want to go through the trouble for what the market will bare.
Thanks so much, I appreciate it! Never would've guessed about the hanging leather; I'll definitely keep my eyes out. Very last question I promise (well tonight anyway): does it make any sense to keep a tailor at a lower skill level to collect extra small BODs to complete the larger BODs or just GM tailor in all accounts?
I have 2 that are 91.1 and 1 that is GM. I don't know if it actually works or not, but the math would seem to indicate so.
Here is a great guide for BODs http://uorforum.com/threads/the-bod-game.16525/ Also, I still have my old UO pin too!!!
Don't BOD, just sell me all the 10/15 exceptional footwear smalls you got. On a serious side: could someone explain me the mask dye pricing? What's the difference between mask dye and mask dye in http://www.uorenaissance.com/info/bod/tailor.html ? I'm trying to figure out what is the minimum / maximum / average value of these 2 rewards so I know what's the right buying price for BODs that lead to them.
That's what I did when I did bods.... I kept 2 tailors right at the limit (80? or 70? I can't remember..) to where they would only get smalls and never larges, and kept one GM tailor. That seemed to work pretty well for me, instead of getting chances of getting all large bods and no smalls, i always got at least 2 smalls and a chance for a small or a large.
My advice..find a gate vendor spot and setup a 10/15 exceptional cloth and 10/15 exceptional footwear vendor This seems to be the easiest way to make a profit off BOD's..Dont bother with selling the spined/horned/barbed stuff, there is already overkill being sold of it. Just collect em till you can make a mask dye n either use it or undercut the last sold n pray it sells. Do Leather bods only if your a fisherman and have endless leather like i do and by leather i mean the ones that lead to Clothing Bless Deeds. As a Tailor your goal is CBD's and Special Mask Dyes. Those sell like hotcakes and are in demand. I have personally made over 10 million that i can count just off CBD's and it continues to be my best and easiest way of making gold on here. GL to you if you choose the life..its not an easy one.
I think, imho, if you like collecting resources, then Tailor BoDs are great! And what I mean is... will you kill stuff that drops green leather? will you kill stuff that drops brown leather? black leather? Are you going to recall around and sheer sheep and collect cotton, etc? If you are buying the ingredients, I would imagine like anything, that you are dropping your profit. But I never got into tailor bods (as far as filling them), because I hate looting leather. Smith BoDs however, I love mining!
Yes, buying resources decreases the profit but saves you time that you can spend elsewhere. I find BODing profitable even though I buy all resources and aggressively buy BODs (only the right ones and at reasonable prices, of course). Although I would not call it easy money, it's probably one of the most complex aspects of the game.
