Hello Uor, I am considering a LJ template with the following: 90/40/95 GM LJ GM Swords GM Tactics GM Anatomy GM Magery GM Resist GM Eval My question here is about mana regen with zero med skill. If in leather armor about how long would it take to regen the mana spent from say a 6th or 7th circle spell and if the regen would be then half as fast in studded leather and glacial in anything more than studded? Last, is bone amor the same regen rate as armor above studded leather? I am also interested in others posting their templates and advice running a hybrid LJ, thanks.
Remove Eval, and use healing (bandages) to stay alive on the run. Since you don't have med, its not like your going to be casting offensive spells, just greater heals (which eval does not increase their value). You will need lightning wand or exp pots to finish people on the run, its the hardest part of using a LJ. Armor Studded and Bone armor both have a 50% mana regen reduction. Leather will allow 100% mana regen, which will be just slightly better because you will lack the med skill.
100 str, 40 dex, 85 int -Drop tactics -Pick up med -Wear barbed leather armor -Always carry tactics modifier weapon (preferably vanq) -Stay buffed with gstr/gdex -Cut the head off your corpses and put them in your house -Don't question me when I suggest to swap tactics for med -Thank me later
I'm an old OSI player from back in the 90's, but I never got around to making a LJ. (too much time as a red tinkerer, I guess) I am new to the forums and I can't tell if Mandevu is being serious or not, so I'll ask directly. Giving up tactics for med seems like a weird call to me. If the whole point of LJ is more Axe damage, why give up so much from having tactics at 0? My suspicion is that he is joking, and I should continue to cannibalize my meditation now that magery is 100 in favor of LJ, Swords and Tactics.
Best Axe for damage over time? Best Axe for burst damage? Found this: http://uorforum.com/threads/relative-damage-per-unit-time-dps-sorta-for-all-weapons.5138/ Axe, double Axe and executioner's axe looks to be where it's at.
Personally, I've found the pure lumberjacking template to be a bit underwhelming for general purpose PVM (assuming that is your goal, since you didn't state), and have been steadily pumping up my int so that I can supplement my damage (and tanking) with a daemon. I've been seriously considering dropping resist or healing for med, and just relying on gheals. Hadn't really considered dropping tactics, when I plug the numbers into the weapon damage spreadsheet that was posted on here, the damage of gm lumber/30 tactics is about equal to gm tactics/0 lumber, so at that point might as well drop lumber and get the use of more weapon types.
Definitely a viable build. Carrying around a supremely accurate axe will give you 25 tactics, which provides 75% of base damage. GM anat and 100 str gives you a 40% bonus to base damage. Add to that the bonus from GM LJ and a vanq axe and you're laughing. If memory serves, GM lumber actually gives you a 10% chance of a 100% bonus to base damage. So the way you're playing this guy is to swing until you connect with massive bonus damage and then drop a combo. Lower INT (85) makes med necessary to stay in the fight, since you're using mana for combos and healing.
Since you are saying that 100 str + GM Anatomy = 40% bonus to base damage are you suggesting that stats should be 100 str 45 Int & 80 Dex? Is the damage bonus worth dropping dex to 80?
idk tbh. Usually a tank mage build relies mainly on magery to deal dmg while counting on the occasional melee hit only for an opportunity to dump a combo. Mandevu's original build is above. He recommends 40 dex and 85 int, AND chugging greater agility pots. tbh I don't know whether this build would be as good as a macer or fencer with a freed up gm skill, since I don't know whether the 10% to deal 100% bonus dmg is in effect on this shard.
Swords Tacs Anat LJ Resist Mage Medi Rely on the axe for bulk damage using Purple Pots and Lightning Wands for finishers. I run 100/80/45int and never run out of mana using mini or greater heals. Precasting Greater heal and popping back 50hp immediately I find to be far better than trying to work in the bandage timers from Healing.
