Could, did. Seeing if I can entice anyone thinking of selling their houses that aren’t in use. Sometimes all it takes is a nudge

    So something small and secluded?
Anything else like mining / spawn / fishing?

Secluded/little to no spawn and not ice isle.

Biggest I’d go for is a large brick

Last night I placed a villa a few screens from southern Vesper (past the mini desert/coast) so I really don't get the issue.. also you just need to look out for IDOCS - I placed a log cabin in a very good location when I first joined the server because of an IDOC.

Don't expect people to move over for you.

    ^^This

I have only been here since December and have placed all but my Tower.
I even got luck with finding a spot open near the Yew Gate for a vendor house.

It just takes time and patience and maybe a bit of nudging.

I currently have 8 spots and only 1 is used as a refresher.
I haven't done anything with the Justice Waterfall SST that you want yet, but I plan to.

    Folks,

If @Caramon II is the returning vet I suspect he is, or even if he isn't. He knows all this. Now either his goal is to stir the pot a bit and by doing so show
    1. OMG House Hoarding is an issue... OR
    2. House Hoarding is not an issue and we all should calm down

BTW if you are the returning vet I think you are, I will give you both Marble Island Villas, if not, you know where to find my auction :)

    I
I also agree, I have been "back" since the start of Feb, Ive placed a Large Brick, a Villa, and many smaller houses. Im not one for holding properties so I only own 2, and don't really want to own more unless they provide some sort of unique situation. There is plenty of places to place the home of your choice for the small to medium category.

Now if you wanna talk hoarding, the focus has to be on the larger homes, Fortresses, Keeps, and possibly towers (they are borderline) that sit literally empty. Or Possibly not empty but being refreshed for someone who hasn't played for more then a year sometimes multiple. Entire rows of homes labeled as anti real estate and just there to hold the spots and prevent others from having them. These are limited by actual physical space and then go unused. Its a bummer and a waste. Shit id say a large portion of the time, its not even about money, the value is there but the owners aren't active or active enough to care about the gold. Im not bitching, Ill be find with a medium house until I can find a large tower or bigger that fits my fancy, but this is why I agree with the portion of the population that doesn't think you should be able to own 15 extremely large properties, its just unnecessary and allows for abuse and waste.

Agree with most of what you say to be honest, but how exactly can this issue be tackled? It'd be cool if GMs could differentiate hoarded houses from genuinely active ones. Only issue with this is some people (although broadly speaking this is unlikely) might just use the house to log out safely rather than keep stock in there.

Perhaps if GMs could track how frequently houses are refreshed - i.e if they are only being refreshed once a week then you know full well that player is just refreshing to keep it there rather than utilise it.

Don't even know if what i said above is feasible but it'd be a good way to differentiate the hoarders from genuine house owners.

The best solution I have seen suggested was the Housing slots suggestion. It was something along the lines of Housing would work like bond slots. Say you get 5 slots, one per char, a small is worth one slot, a fortress 4 or 5. Obviously that could be played with to make it more fair, like Veterans get a slot for every year the account is active, or Earned like platinum with hours per month, so as activity declines so do housing slots, but the point is if even slightly limiting players ability to hold real estate would make people consider which to hold on to and only keep the ones being used or that they feel worth it.

It doesn't matter, that's a conversation for the suggestions board, my original point was just that Housing is available, plenty of it and of decent size, its only when you are being picky that it becomes a problem, thus it isn't a community problem, but a you problem. If you need a bunch of space you could easily find two or three medium size houses that will surely hold your belongings.

Edit: This is the actual post about this topic for anyone interested. http://uorforum.com/threads/official-housing-mechanic-discussion-thread.15216/page-9

Deal with the guy who collects forts first - i get it's his thing, but cmon, how selfish can you be.

As for the OP, he's just trolling. He cant even tell you what he wants, just tells you that your auction is either too expensive or something he doesn't want.

Not trolling, just looking for small unused houses in nice locations.

Nothing larger than a large brick, little to no spawn, and pretty.

And yea, I’m not paying 10 million for a moonglow large brick. So I do have a price limit.

JohnM, you’ve been cranky since I first started seeing you post here. Glad that hasn’t changed in my absence, makes things seem right. Thank you.

Dude, over 24 hours I have placed 2 houses in good locations. Look house.JPG

    house 2.JPG

I honestly think you just need to go out looking for places, and then buy a deed that you're sure will fill the spots you encounter.

Just east of where I placed that small tower are some spots too. Run around and check for yourself :)

there are plenty of house spots to be placed under tower size , hoarding houses is not the problem , it is REFRESHERS of houses for people that do not intend on playing here anymore.
i believe a simple OWNER/account holder of the house must refresh once a month or every 2 months and 50 percent of the houses here would IDOC and fall.

Ohhh I do like east Brit. I’ll run by there later.

The vesper one, a dumpy villa in no mans land isn’t for me.

The thing that people don’t seem to grasp is that there are lots of houses that people don’t use in nice locations.

I CAN run around and place a house but then I am doing the next guy no favours. I can beg someone to sell me an already placed house that they actually don’t use and help free up some space for the next guy who wants a house close to east Brit or vesper.

It’s always been a problem to get people to understand that I know i. CAN place a house but I’d rather buy someone’s unused house instead.
