I bought the deed or at least I thought I did. Went to put it in the water and I need 250 oak boards, 200 ingots, 1000 yards of cloth and carpentry, tinkering, and tailoring. I have to admit that thats really cool to require the materials and skills to actually build the boat. I dig it. That said where might I find some info on how high those skills need to be? I have a lumberjack and my dad has a miner so the boards and ingots are not a problem and I can buy 1000 yards of cloth fairly cheap. IF the skills need to be GM Im going to just higher someone to do it. lol

You need a fairly high level of carpentry, I believe having a GM carpenter do it is the way to go (Not too sure on what the chances are under GM skill, if even possible).

You can find small boats in yew for around 15k each. I know @Basoosh keeps his vendors nicely stocked at the large marble villa by yew gate. He's my go to provisioner and has probably taken me for around 1M in boats over the last year. His boats don't sink!

This guide has more info on it:

I'm not able to log in right now, but I think if you double-click a dovetail saw, it will tell you the minimum crafting skills required for the boat.

But yea, you can buy completed boat deeds from other players. They will be that egg-white color, instead of the gold color (which is the plans). If you do decide to buy from another player, I believe you can sell that deed you purchased back to the NPC shipwright for full value.

Just sold the deed back and bought a small ship deed from Basoosh. I don't ever remember my ships sinking before…..Is this also something new?

Ah! They decay, you'll need to flick open the plank with the key in your pack every few days.

Ships decaying is nothing new. They also decayed on OSI, unless I'm mistaken.
