When the icon is in the dock, right clíck on it to bring up options that allow you to make the icon stay in the dock permanently.
Do you mean the icon for UO:Renaissance? I also have El Capitan but not experienced that problem, it is permanently in my dock.
Its quite common for many characters to just lodge at the local rooming place, where they can be logged out quickly.
This is a good story, its not often we get this level of complexity and development in stories from the game.
