Hello all. Brand new to this server and very excited about it. Ive heard NOTHING BUT TRULY EXCELLENT THINGS about this server with regards to the content, community, as well as owner/admins! I played UO way back in the day (like most of us) and quit when Trammel came out. Ive dabbled in some other free shards here and there but nothing serious. Im here for a serious stint of UO PvP though! There is so much new and different here...I wonder if someone might just help to lead me in a general direction as well as I have a few brief questions.... 1. Brand new accounts with new chars. I planned on 1st char being simple either LumberJacking/Swords and kill basic mobs to build a bank, or maybe Mace/Lumberjacking. My understanding is that LJ here on there server applies to ALL 2h weapons and not swords? Is that correct? 2. Where can I go with literally 0 gold and 50 skill? Went to the Occlo newbie dungeon but you really cant make any gold there killing giant rats at 7g apiece 3. UOSteam. 100% NOT allowed? Is that accurate? I can understand No to Sallos/EasyUO/etc....but...No UOSteam? Not looking to debate the point but there are no workaround or broken mechanics associated with its usage that I am aware of and I have all my macros/etc that I have used in the past in UO steam....switching will be do-able but more work and Im here for fun not work! I assume this is a 100% non negotiable thing? UOSteam = NO? 4. Big shoutout to Izzy. You rock dude! Hooked me up with a freshly tamed horse and gave me a basic layout after I had been on the server for less than 5 mins. No...you arnt a woman. There are no females on the internet so tyvm DUDE! Any other general advice about nuances here on UOR and where to start off to start building a bank and progressing would be appreciate. Potentially looking for a PvP guild, but....I really need to get my feet underneath me first.
1. false. lj applies to axes only. 2. If you make a new char a provo mage, you can with 50 magery run arctic ogre lords spawn. Super hotspot, lots of pks, but no magic slow walking ogres that hold 1k a pop will fund your other toons in no time. Won't take more then 20 of them to get enough gold to take magery to 80 and gm provo. Then you can kill w/e you want and fund ur LJ. 3.correct, no steam. Razor works great but without the easy mode features such as auto loot etc. General advice: http://uorforum.com/threads/fast-track-guide-to-a-provoke-mage.1646/ This is how I started here ^ and it works great. That provo mage char is also going to be useful for the rest of ur time here.
Interesting. The FAQ needs to be reworded or updated IMO. Code: Does lumberjacking give a substantial boost to damage from axes? Yes, the lumberjacking skill will yield a substantial damage increase to any two-handed axe weapon. Seems pretty clear, considering it says "axe weapon". Welcome to Renaissance. Steam is a dirty piece of crap suited for cheaters and lazy asses who can't follow the rules. Auto cures, even MORE simplified targeting than Razor can provide, the list goes on. There's no need to use that crap unless you are weak and lazy. Razor is already too much. Even with the corpse loot containers implemented here to thwart Steam's garbage auto-looting function, it can still facilitate single click looting. Similar to Razor's restock agents but from what I'm told, faster. I hope everyone running this garbage has their PC burst into flames suffering irreparable damage.
The wording looks great to me. any 2 handed AXE weapon will get bonus, a bardiche or halbard is NOT an axe, and war-axes of course are macing.
It says "any two-handed weapon" though... Confusing at least to me. Suggestive that literally any 2H weapon gives the concussion blow. Either way...its w/e. See you guys out there!
I was just about to debate, and then I reread both my quote and the original and saw that indeed, it says any 2h AXE weapon...... Reading...its hard yo!
Welcome to UOR, its indeed a great Shard to play. Provocation works pretty well for starters to earn some money. You can GM it pretty easy, there should be a lot of information on the forums. If you have any questions, then hop on our IRC - most of the players are hanging out there. See you ingame

I literally have heard NOTHING but phenomenal things about how friendly and helpful Chris and his staff AND the community are and so far (in the <24 hours ive been a member) its holding true
Greetings Por Corp Wis! I hope that you have been getting on your feet. Like many of the other players here, I recommend starting a provomage (magery 50/provo49/1 in whatever else) because it will allow you to start off hunting right away, in some fashion, to get some gear and gold and just adventure. I would also recommend a peacedexxer if you wanna get down and dirty (peacemaking50/Healing49/1 inw/e). Barding here is a huge part of most solo players. But guess what!?! You dont have to play alone right away. There are a few guilds that will take you in untill you are on your feet, or find a better guild. Project Sanctuary is one of those guild. There is a ton of other great stuff on this shard, but I will let you explore the site and the world.
