I hate you. You are not the money making scheme you alluded. I have made 100 times what you've earnt me with a crappy Provo bard in the Occlo Mage tower/dungeon. Why do you keep giving me large BODS for 5 x 20 exceptional bone armour? Since I have GM'd tailoring I have received 68 BODS, 21 of you have been for Bone Armour. 9 have been for studded armour that I've burnt through 1000's of hides making/failing to make, I've had 4 of the same large BODS for hats and only received a small handful of small BODS from the tailors. I've spent about 20k buying small BODS to flip and you've ALL given me more bone armour or studded leather. Stop giving me bulk order books too. I have enough. In short, you suck, I hate you, if you were a person I would say hello to you and not raise my eyebrows thus giving you the passive aggressive impression that I dislike you. Any advice would be appreciated here, because I'm bored as hell getting F'd in the A buy BOD'ing and currently wishing I'd never bothered with a tailor. Sincerely, a (disgruntled) Sheepdog.
Wow! 1-Never give up 2-stay positive 3-find senior bodders for tips 4-trash bones (or put in dusty bod books) 5-trash 20x studded (or put in dusty bod books) 6-Make 2 other tailors 7-Make 3 smiths 8-Collect bods 3x a day 9-Now,feel the dark side of bodding
AMEN. I think I'm just gonna leave it alone for a while, collect BODS every 6 hours and train other characters instead, maybe this is a rich mans game, I don't know, I was buying small BODS from vendors like lottery tickets hoping for a decent flip, getting large bone BODS, and then thinking if I do another one there'd be NO WAY, I'd catch more bone. Then caught more bone. Gamblers fallacy.
Solid advice there Shad, thank you. I was considering making another tailor but just training up to 70.1 JUST to collect small BODS. I've got to the point where I'm leaving Bone on the floor, if anyone wants a bone boner follow my tailor around Occlo.
To do BOD's correctly and with little frustration, you need the right BOD's. I know it sounds simple, but of course it is not. I find buying collections is a great way to get a better edge. Consequently, there is a huge amount of down time, so filling this with collecting the materials needed to fill the BOD's once you get them. I will crank out literally hundreds of BOD's at a time. Only because I spent time, well money, in getting thousands of hides or cloth and same with ingots. Good luck.
I have two tailors and one smith. I collect bods twice a day, file them away and once every month or so, review them and fill those large ones that Im interested in according to this post http://uorforum.com/threads/the-bod-game.16525/#post-146882 If Im missing one bod and its worth while, I'll go see the Britain Gate vendor and buy it. If not Ill just keep waiting. Eventually, I'll just sell my collection but not yet. Im still addicted to the whole routine
Hi, I was also really disappointed in BODs, when I started, btu then I read the guides, and realized what I am doing wrong, which helped a lot. You also have to realize that you get profit in the long term form doing them, it takes time to complete a set. As to studded armor- those are trash, just don't do them, not worth the materials. Same goes for iron exceptional plate in blacksmithy. BOD can make you money, but either you have to be patient, or you can sell the BODs to someone else who wants to do them. Taht way you only get them ( possibly sort them) and sell. I suggest you read the guides, they really helped me figure out what is worth doing, and what is better to trash. Here is one, there are more. In this one I like that it gives total materials need for 20 exceptional items. http://uorforum.com/threads/the-business-of-bulk-orders.16637/
Thank you for the advice everyone, genuinely appreciate it. Think I've been coming at it from the wrong angle for sure.
1. Have 3 GM tailors 2. Collect a BOD for each 3 times a day 3. Learn what to keep and what is trash, spreadsheets are handy 4. Have patience early on as you are just building up stock to start off with 5. Try not to kill yourself In a few years you'll be swimming in CBDs and mask dyes and hating your life. It's that easy! Also, real pros also have 3 GM smiths, and 3 GM carps, tinks and fletchers for future madness.
I have moderate success with one gm tailor and 2 tailors at 80 or whatever the threshold is where you only get smalls. That seems to help get the singles I need to do some of them. It also helps just to collect them for a while them go back again and see what you can do
I understand your discouragement, Here's a couple of tips. Make couple other tailors, build their skill up enough to collect small bods. When skill up, have them live in separate towns which have handy tailor shops close to bank. Have them collect plenty of bods to get a good supply going, than hand them over to your main tailor. Also when you turn in a bod, you instantly get another. Just say "order status" to tailor npc. If you need any empty bod books, I have some will gladly give you. I'm not in game lot, but pm me here and we can make arrangements to meet up. Above advice all good. Marjo : Governess of Wispfelt Village. Westra in IRC
Lots of good starting advice here already. Get the 3 tailor/3smith BOD chain going to increase your odds. BOD's are long term investments that payoff over time. I have never done the flip style. I usually collect BOD's for a while and stockpile them. At some point I will list them for sale and feel very happy not to have been sucked into the dark underbelly of the BOD world. I am just fine being on the edge of it. I have long given up hope of hitting the lottery with one fo the high end smith BOD's that can fetch top coin, but I still play the lottery just in case. UO playstyle is to each their own. Gold will come, just enjoy your time as you see fit to spend it each day and in not time yoru bank will have various colors of coins.
