Obviously we can't imitate the originals 100% but, at least to my ear, the ones I have sound pretty darn close.

I'll make a replacement guide soon with my MP3s and your MP3s, Lightshade. How close to original T2A are these, @Lightshade ?

They were ripped from the T2A Installation CD and converted.

These songs are the best. They say music can bring you back to a specific point in time and these definitely do it for me. Someone did an awesome piano cover of stones I think on youtube also worth checking out.

Great work Namarra, the music included with UOR definitely deserves more attention. I agree with you that the remasters pale in comparison to the original MIDIs.

I've delved pretty deep in to this subject awhile ago so I thought I'd share my findings. First is that MIDI support (on Windows) has dwindled significantly after Windows XP. So any conversions done using Windows' default MIDI sound module are not the best. I managed to take the original MIDI's from the 1997 disc and convert them using a popular mainstream Soundblaster soundcard from 1998.

Play LBCASTLE.mp3 from the compilation in the OP and compare it to: https://soundcloud.com/uoorigins/lbcastle?in=uoorigins/sets/origins-soundtrack

Huge difference. If you are interested in using the conversion I did you can download all the mp3's here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g9hb4h16p5qkkaa/OriginsMusic.zip?dl=0

Or listen to my entire UO playlist on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/uoorigins/sets/origins-soundtrack

But alas, if you want the TRUE MIDI's done as the original Composer intended, I'll point you all to: http://www.dor-lomin.com/archive/ultima/musicarchive/uo/
These were converted on the Roland SCC-1 (more popularly known as the SC-55). This was likely used by the Composer and is the closest you can get to the originals.

Personally, I only had a Soundblaster in my PC back in the day so I'm nostalgic towards that conversion. But the Roland SCC-1 conversion can't be beat for accuracy. The detail is incredible.

Tracks downloaded from dropbox and from soundcloud sounds differently. And I see db-tracks only 22050Hz vs 44100Hz sc-tracks. Do not think this really matters, but still sc-tracks is better to my ears. Can you upload somewhere sc-tracks also?
