Advice for a person who has never played Ultima Online before?

It works fine for me. You have to unroll the bed roll and then double click it when your camp is secure. You will get a window that says "Quit?" Select yes and you're instantly logged out.

I'm not sure if there are any delays due to battle. I've never really used it to try and escape @Mes or @Pork Fried Rice. I usually just run straight at them yell "Sulfare Vitale!" And hope for the best.

Also, you can't camp in dungeons *sad face*
