    Hello everyone,

I played UO years ago (before Trammel) and was excited to see your shard, so signed up and started a character.

I can connect fine, I can macro for hours on end without any connection loss. Unfortunately when I play my mage, and poison an orc, I immediately lag out and get a "connection lost" after a few seconds. This is extremely frustrating. I don't know what could cause this issue, but it has happened about 15 times and I have logged back in and repeated it every time. I can run around fine without any connection loss but when I poison/lightning an orc I drop pretty much immediately.

I am using the client from the Renaissance website, along with the latest Razor, and I have disabled things like Smart CPU Detection.

I am playing from the UK so my ping is a bit higher than usual, but here are ping and tracert results:

    Reply from 76.74.249.219: bytes=32 time=146ms TTL=110
    Reply from 76.74.249.219: bytes=32 time=145ms TTL=110

EDIT: I ran a ping -t while playing, and my pings didn't drop when my connection was lost, so it doesn't seem to be an actual connection issue.

Does anyone have any advice or is my UO nostalgia doomed to failure?

    Thanks for the advice.

    Welcome to UO Renaissance Avaratz.

The first place to start would be our troubleshooting thread. Your pings/traceroutes look about as expected from from the UK and the unpingable hops in the middle of the route are expected.

This thread should give you a variety of things to try to resolve the problems. The most likely cause seems a client incompatible with UO:R or a configuration setting.

I would start by making 100% sure that razor is linking to the UOR client and not a custom/newer client from another server.

If you still have trouble let us know.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the post and your various guides which have made it a lot easier to get back into UO.

Unfortunately I've been through the troubleshooting guide and tried all of the steps. I am going to attempt to reinstall UO completely and see if that makes any difference. Does UO keep any sort of connection log that I could look through?

What is odd (and I didn't mention it in my initial post) was that the other day I killed a few orcs with no problem at all - the problems only started over the last 2 days.

    Thanks very much.

    Chris - quick question.

After browsing through several posts on the forum (reinstall didn't help unfortunately), I found this post by Walisin:

It was regarding a separate issue to mine, but got me thinking.

I am currently macroing a separate character on another account with exactly the same name. Could this be causing the problem possibly? Have you run into issues with characters having the same name?

    Thanks again.
