Hi all. I wanted to start a thread to talk about the DDOS yesterday. I know we all have questions, so instead of us all pming Telamon and driving him crazy, lets have the discussion here. I put a definition of DDOS below. I have a couple of questions. 1. Do we know who DDOS'd us? 2. Do we know why we were DDOS'd? 3. Does this seem like it will be happening more often, or less? 4. Telamon do you need any help? Should we bust out some vigilante justice? (kinda joking, kinda not. haha) A denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is an attempt to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users. A DoS attack generally consists of efforts to temporarily or indefinitely interrupt or suspend services of a host connected to the Internet. As clarification, distributed denial-of-service attacks are sent by two or more people, or bots, and denial-of-service attacks are sent by one person or system.
From what I heard, it was the peer1 server that was flooded; the uor server continued running without a hitch, we just couldn't connect to it.
