When you use a hair dye it dyes both your beard and your hair.

If you use a disguise kit, it automatically makes your hair the special white color you get when you use hair restyle deeds. This makes your thief stand out like a sore thumb since he's running around with bright white hair. So naturally, you would need to dye your hair since the disguise kit doesnt offer a hair color selection. When you use a normal hair dye it will dye both your hair and your beard.

When the disguise kit wears off, your hair will return to normal color, but your beard will remain dyed the color it was dyed while the disguise kit was in effect.

My characters undisguised hair color was hairstyle deed white, along with his beard. So when I did this, my hair restyle white beard that cost me two hair restyle deeds to get (100k), was a cheap dye yellow when my disguise kit wore off.

Another note about disguise kits, and im not sure if this problem can be fixed. When I logged out on my disguised character all my in game hotkeys through the UO client, and all my spells I had drug out of my spellbook dissappeared, as if the client didnt recognize my character, it wasnt until the kit wore off and my name returned to normal and I logged in that I had my hotkeys and my spells back.

I didn't know about the beard issue, since I don't have a character with one, but dying hair on a kit causes no problems.

As for the macros and hotkey resetting. You can just create a "default" setup in your uo directory that is your thiefs macros, desktop, etc, and then when you log in as a new disguise, it will automatically load the proper macros.

See this post for instructions to do this:

Logging in with a new name will always revert to the default macros created the first time you launched UO. If I recall correctly this was due to how the macros/spells were stored, each character would be given a directory e.g. C:\UOR\Desktop\Renaissance\<Account>\Dolan

If I were to use the disguise kit and log out, the next login attempt would look for the disguise kit name e.g. C:\UOR\Desktop\Renaissance\<Account>\Collin and find nothing, therefore reverting to the default settings.

The only workaround to this is the method mentioned by snap above, the only downside is that if you use different keys for your theif/other chars then you would need to modify the default settings accordingly.
