For those of you who are unaware, CrazyDaze and I undertook and completed the two-man mayhem challenge. The details of our success can be found here: http://uorforum.com/threads/epic-boss-challenge.8887/#post-73836 However, it wasn't all that simple. We had actually defeated a total of 16 bosses in the course of our attempts. The first attempt didn't really get off the ground. We took on and defeated the elder wyrm... Notice something missing? In our haste we had FORGOTTEN to take a screenshot of the corpse! Oh the embarrassment! So rather than force ourselves to race against the clock we decided to take this on again when we both had more time. So we of course started right back at the beginning, killing the elder wyrm and this time taking plenty of screen shots. But unfortunately for us, real life had other plans than let us take on the challenge unhindered. CrazyDaze managed to take on the efreet sultan and the dark one but those efforts combined took over three hours on their own. The next boss we were able to tackle didn't come until 9pm, almost 6 hours later (and the start of our ultimately successful run). But even then we weren't without challenges and despair. After three hours at the ogre lords in despise and a near miss encounter with Paradox and Juxtapose and still no sign of an ogre mage I decided to call it a night. CrazyDaze had similar luck, spawning the arctic ogre mage but failing to notice he was being attacked and losing his chance. We started again this morning hoping that maybe somehow we would be able to kill the Azure Dragon, the Wyvern Monarch, the Terathan Infiltrator, the Ogre Mage, the diseased blood elemental, the Ophidian Queen, and the Arctic Ogre Mage in the 4 hour window before we would begin losing credit for bosses we had already slain... Unfortunately, that was not to be despite our best efforts. So we ended up losing out on credit for the dark one, the efreet sultan, and the elder wyrm (again!) We managed to enlist the help of Freja to keep an eye on the arctic ogre lord spawn while we concentrated on the rest of the list. A dungeon picker came upon us while we were trying to defeat the elder wyrm and wanted to hit it with a few spells "just to get the plat". Of course rather than jeopardize our chances we agreed to pay them NOT to help (probably the most confusing request anyone has received in the game). After that, we had 6 hours left to finish off just the efreet and the dark one which we managed to somehow spawn in an hour instead! After slaying the dark one and getting back to the bank the server crashed, costing us 3 platinum coins and a +25 vanquishing spear. At that point it didn't matter, we just laughed about it because of how narrowly we had avoided another setback. At the end of it all, we made quite a bit of coin just from killing the spawn and the bosses. We were able to donate a good chunk to the guild too. Hopefully some of the other knights will be able to take on challenges like these because they definitely teach you a lot about your own strengths and weaknesses and how to effectively work as a team.
I honestly have to say that this was one of the most fun, and at the same time pain in the arse, events I have done yet on UOR. Not only did we make a nice chunk of change for ourselves, but also the guild treasury. I'm taking this as a strong personal accomplishment, my own quest if you will. Fooka and I worked very well together and have become closer as friends through this experience. We may have angered the inner daemons within our significant others but it was well worth it. Today's ongoing irl joke to the significant others, not in ear shot of course, was... "Doesn't she know that this UO stuff is serus bizniz?!?"
