The one thing I have to add is that playing the system is what UO players do. No matter how you design the system, UO players will game it.
I'm sure you're sitting here thinking about how TT is dirty griefers and you aren't like us, but every games the system. Every time you trap a pouch, you're doing something wholly unintended by the developers. The same goes for macroing skills, the way we use a lot of spells (like mana drain), and a myriad of other activities.
Gaming the system is just what UO players do. Even if you change things, it will probably be the same people figuring out the new way to game the system, it's just a question of motivation and creativity.

If we actually played the game as intended, we would be running around on foot saying thee and thou and telling the people of minoc that a vile harpy nest was discovered nearby and must be destroyed.

Thou are right, but thee can still improve the system. However, even significantly improving the most abusable system still has it's whiners, as thou can see here.
