Hello, I am a new player to free shards, looking for an active community where I can get the classic UO feel. I enjoy making Ultima Online youtube videos and was hoping to find an active community that often does group events. Also do people have any recommendations for builds for PvE and PvP? Any tips and pointers to get started will be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Trammie Surprise
Welcome to UO:R! It is truly the best free shard for this era. For PvM, I recommend going down the route of a bard with Provocation. If you utilize the Young program you can easily macro up a character than can earn all the money you will need to GM magery or buy that first home. See my guide in my signature for help. Yes you can easily upsize the game window through Razor. The option is under the "More Options" tab.
Welcome trammiesurprise! I cannot recommend enough to check this guide: http://uorforum.com/threads/new-to-ultima-online-start-here.3182/ There is also other guide compendium like this one: http://uorforum.com/threads/one-guide-to-rule-them-all-one-guide-to-find-them.682/ You will find a lot of info there, it could be a bit overwhelming so I'll give you a basic idea. For PVM I suggest any template with provocation, it will be better if you start it with 50 provo and then go on. There is a provo house in ocllo that you can ask for access in IRC that will help you to reach GM really easy. You can adjust max size with a Razor option, our client is a bit older to have the look and feel of the era EDIT: RIN robbed me the reply
Welcome to UO Ren! Peace Dexxer Music Peace combat skill Healing tactics anatomy Frenzy Ostard Dexxer 70-80 Animal Taming Animal Lore Veterinary combat skill Anatomy Tactics Both of these can get you going with nothing more than the gold you start with. After that I recommend transitioning into a full tamer/magery. Collecting wood, ore and cloth are decent starting money makers as they're always in demand. Remember Ultima Online is about the journey. Talk to strangers!
All you need is an IRC client, and then connect to the server using the info shown on the main website: irc.chat4all.org Port: 6667 Channel: #Renaissance If you prefer to keep things in the browser, and the flash one doesn't work for you, then I recommend trying mibbit. I personally use hexchat. Both are free and easy to use.
If you increase the width and height of the game window too high you'll start getting graphic artifacts. (black squares) This is due to the 2d client using Direct Draw, an ancient way to draw pixels to the screen.
Halloween event will be soon, which is a ton of fun. I take a battle miner so I can make my weapon and start killing. Welcome to UOR
1100x1010 works well for a 23". I've messed with the setting a few times but have yet to move away from the default settings. Just too much usable space around the edges.
