If I had to take a guess on the reason for PFR being banned, it would be this response of his in lightshades ragequit post: I could be wrong of course, but that could have been taken as his only desire to come back to UOR.
I don't post much about things like this these days, but these posts are so ridiculous that I feel obliged to respond. Especially after a bit of a spectacle has been made out of one side of the story, I think leaving people wondering and questioning if they should risk investing more time here "drives people to other places." (Incidentally, so does banning everyone asking.) Maybe you are talking about some other thread you haven't referenced. I don't see anyone in this thread (as of post 18) stirring up drama or explicitly stating they are "entitled" to an answer, but rather I just see questions and arguments that it is in the best interests of the shard if an answer is given. Chris is free to act on these arguments, disagree with them or ignore them. In my opinion, the only "toxic" posts in this thread are YOURS. I'd also like to point out the irony in telling people to mind their own business when it comes to how Chris runs the shard and then following up with advice on how he should run the forum.
The reason Chris banned him is because a year ago or so when PFR did the housedrop and quit, he also made a big hatepost towards Chris and the staff that wasn't forgotten. He deleted all his chars except the un-deleteable reds, attacked the staff and talked badly about the server. Flash forward to now, Chris said if he really wanted to quit back then he's going to 'help' him remain that way by banning him if his only intention is to pk his playerbase. I believe PFR said something along the lines of he has better internet now so he's able to PK for a few months on the reds he couldn't delete even if he wanted to (He most likely wanted to - he deleted everything else). If PFR never talked bad about the server, PK'd exactly like he did throughout his whole history WITHOUT the horrific drama-filled ending with the housedrop event and the above mentioned hate post etc, he would've been free to return because he never would've said he's done on this server forever and never would've deleted his characters. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and he ruined his chance. Chris doesn't ban many people and you get a lot of slaps on the wrist before a ban is issued, but in this particular case, because of all the putrid hate PFR spewed towards the server and the staff, he wasn't allowed back.
This player quit from the server quite publicly over a year ago. While leaving the server he made a variety of statements about his dislike for the server and attempted to paint the staff as totalitarian assholes for enforcing the rules, verifying that people were playing fair and investigating bugs/exploits. Contrary to his statements he was never punished and only jailed for private conversations. Situations such as sending gates into locations new players congregated around and player run events in order to lure them into a trap to be murdered by a stack of 9-12 players. This was investigated for account abuse and the player was free to leave once no abuse was found. Changes were made to the gate warnings to better inform players about the risks of using gates leading to player houses. The player was asked respectfully to please not target our players in this manner until a patch was implemented. At the time the player indicated this was a perfectly reasonable request. However this is how the situation was explained to others when he quit. Similar situations happened with a boat access exploit, noticing strange packet traffic from IP's related to this user, mass murdering of new players in their houses. Each time the player was spoken to and released from jail without incident. This player then decided to quit publicly, as some players do. However his statements about the server, its staff, and the treatment of a player that had murdered over 4000 of our players was explained as "unfair". Some of his statements at the time sent to other players raised the concerns of the staff, but as the player quit on his own the situation was dropped. Fast forward to last week when this player returned to the server. The player returns to his old habits of logging in and murdering players for 48 hours. A perfectly acceptable endeavor for a UOR player. However this players own statements drew into question why he was here. Now a player can dislike me all they want, its not my job to be everyones friend. I am here to make sure the rules are followed and that exploits are found and fixed. No one is ever jailed for murdering other players until our discouragement rules are ignored. This player also indicated that he had only returned for 30 days and just wanted to return to old habbits and then move on. As I do with a great deal of players I pulled him into jail to have a conversation. Within 60 seconds of our conversation starting the player was making negative posts on the forums about his treatment by the staff "Because he was killing players". The drama continued into IRC with an endless stream of new IP address. This player made it very clear that he can never play on a server where the staff enforce the rules, and speak to our players about following them. Rather than deal with the same drama all over again we decided that it was in the players best interest that he seek enjoyment elsewhere. The player had a choice, have an amicable conversation with me in jail, and return to the server. Instead he choose to immediately create some drama regarding the fact that I wanted to speak to him and that of course I had jailed him for murdering players. He was actually jailed because he was vulnerable standing next to an exterior wall in his house and I wanted to have a conversation with him in a location that was safe for the player... TLDR Version: If you decided to take a break from the Renaissance server keep in mind your own statements can come back to haunt you down the road. If you quit publicly and then tell everyone who asks that you are leaving because of how horrible this place is. We will seriously question allowing you the privilege of returning to our community and being a drain on our resources. I hate to lose a player in any situation and never take this decision lightly. But in my mind this player quit, deleted his characters and made it clear this was not the server for him. In the end we simply honored his wishes.
As someone that regularly solo PKS and has been, and probably still is a huge pain in staffs ass, can honestly say that I have never been banned. Let me tell ya, I've pushed that envelope. So I find this hard to believe as the full story. I can see Telamon banning someone for solo pking if their intent were to the harm the server, which it can be in some instances. Telamon has done plenty to fuck over PKs and u bet your ass it was done on purpose. But banning PFR over something like that, doubt it. Nerf bonded pets/r
Oh boy, an adult who sits around role-playing an orc is breaking out his seldom-used forum account to provide some divine wisdom because he/she deems something ridiculous. *gasps* Okay, on a serious note, if the OP wanted to really know, he spends plenty of time in IRC. He could have just sent a message privately. Throwing it out here into the open is just kicking the hornet's nest. There are many here that thrive on whining about every mechanic, play style and decision made by staff on this server - so telling people to mind their own business is far from toxic. If anything, your entry into this thread is nothing but hostile and you should step back and and get back to your roleplaying.
This whole situation is extremely simple. And no player should ever worry about their time and investment here. You should however consider very very carefully how you quit and the bridges you burn. If you willingly give up the privilege of being a member of this community and a player on this server in a public and derogatory manner. The staff can one day hold you to your own word. It is not our responsibility to provide you with continued entertainment should the "greener pastures" you left for turned out to be brown and full of manure.
My face when a guy that's been here since 2013 and has 40 msgs talks about someone else's rarely used forum account... Are the rest of your 38 post's as aggressive and useless as the ones you have made in this thread?
There we go with posting pictures again, do people feel that makes them funny? While I may not post often, I also didn't start my post with: I don't post much about things like this these days. There's nothing aggressive about my posts, it was simply pointing out that people should mind their own business and this is Telamon's server. If you find that hostile, then sorry that the facts are so disturbing. Here's aggressive: Stick with making four minute long girly-voice videos on how to make a recall macro. It is not our responsibility to provide you with continued entertainment should the "greener pastures" you left for turned out to be brown and full of manure. Quote of the year. Long live UOR. And this is the last of my participation on this subject. Chris has spoken, the issue is closed.
Girly Voice? Ahh I understand, sound is distorted with your head buried up Telamons butt. No offence to Telamon whom I respect. *edited for profanity and brown nosing.*
So I could log in if I didn't intend on collecting anymore heads? Ouch, if I had feelings they'd be hurt.
Did you leave the shard with a hate-filled rant against the server and the server's staff all while claiming how much better you were for not ever allowing yourself to play on such a weak, inferior server such as this one ever again? All after you deleted all your chars and dropped your keep filled with items in a unique shard-wide event to try and promote the servers flaws? If you did, you're PFR. If you didn't, I don't see why you'd have any issue coming back even if your agenda on sunday through monday, all month all year, was mass serial killer style bloody fucking murder..
