The PK's aren't even that bad on this shard. I was playing on the second age and every twenty minutes I would get pk'd. Ive been playing on this shard for about two months now and i've only had one instance of getting ganged up on and actually being killed and it was Google and some other LOL PK so I didn't have much of a chance with my provoker. But to be honest the only reason they got me is because they showed up right as i was casting blade spirits. Just be smart and careful and 90 percent of the time you can get away with a fast recall. I'm looking for you Google. Better look over your shoulder because I AM COMING!!!
Pro-tip for the Blade Spirits issue: have a hotkey for arm/disarm. Arm an Item Id wand (or a newbie dagger), then hit your Arm/Disarm hotkey. It will now remember this item and arm it next time you hit the hotkey. If you want to cancel out of a Blade Spirits casting, hit your Arm/Disarm key. You will arm the wand/dagger, and your casting will be broken. You can then cast another spell as normal (i.e. Recall). There might still be an item equip delay to get the dagger or wand out of your hands, but it's certainly faster than just sitting there until the BS cast is done.
Yes thank you Dal, whenever I cast Blade Spirit I would always think, "I really hope no one shows up right now." lol
Hmm, popped pouch is probably best in an emergency since it uses one action, not two, and you should have a hotkey for it. Not sure if they always disrupt spells here though, someone else may be able to confirm.
Good idea! I've been worried about that since I rely on blade spirits to do a lot of fighting for me.
I've been on this server for about a month and a half. I picked this server because of the rule set. I'm not a huge PvPr, I'm more of the merchant type. When Tram came into play on the OSI shards, I watched the game fall apart. Everyone had more gold than they could ever spend. My tamer could make 80k an hour all day every day without worrying about ever dieing. I saw people bicker over spawns with no resolution. I saw the economy fall apart as gold became worthless....then items became worthless. It got to the point it wasn't worth playing at all. I switched from Chessy to SP and fell in love with the game again. Combining Fel rules with one character per account made the game fun again. Your profession was valued, you had to take chances, and the economy was stable. If people were ganking you all the time, you relied on your friends and camped the spot where you were ganked for some payback. Battles with the ORC clan at Brit cemetery were nights to live for, it was so much fun. All in all, this server is as close to that experience as I can imagine getting for free......key word here is free. You aren't paying for the experience. If you don't like the way a server is set up, you can go to another with no hard feelings. This server is perfect for the people that like this rule set. For other people, there are other servers out there. I can promise you one thing though. If you give it a chance, play the game here for a while, you will not enjoy a Trammel shard ever again. You may as well be playing a single player game on your x-box. Honestly, the only thing I don't like on this server is repair deeds. I know they stopped the scamming complaints, but the loss of player interaction and dependency is vast. I'm sure everyone can remember the days of waiting in line at the Britt blacksmith shop for a GM Smith to repair your sword or armor. Yes, there were scammers, but smiths were rewarded with reputations, trust, and interaction with other players. It made being a crafter a fun role in the game and I will always miss that. I know it's not completely practical without a huge staff to respond to all the scam complaints, but it made the game so much more than a pvp pvm game. It forged a community. But that's not something worth leaving for either....LOL! Keep on playing, enjoy the game, and feel free to ask for help. This server, overall, has the best people I have played with in all my years of UO. You won't find a better player base on any server.
I would love to see repair deeds removed and Powder of Fortification blocked from working on armor and weapons. The glut of magic weapons on this server will literally never be reduced as a result of this. Save it for what it's good for, masks and sandals...fine, maybe leather armor but still no. That stuff needs to wear out and be recycled. This perpetual gear is out of control and killing the blacksmith in public. That and please do something about ARs or Dex loss or anything that makes metal armor desirable in the field again.
Blaise, I agree with you 100%. That's really the only part of this server that confused me. It seems like everywhere you look, you see the best features of UO available with tons of cool stuff you don't see anywhere else....but then you see the feature that hurt OSI servers the most, other than Tram. If that was fixed, I would seriously consider this server as close to perfect as it can get.
YES!! Make metal armor valuable again, the UBER barbed leather thing or the fact one can just scrounge some magic studded leather and get AR's in the high 40's and 50's is just crazy. While we're at it address the melee weapon damage generator, one point of damage is simply not consistent with how it should work IMO.
We're getting way off topic, but yeah.. Repair deeds / fort powder combined with the lack of demand for metal armor made me decide to drop my miner/smith character before I finished him.
