Right. I have no idea why anyone would think that no-recall-in-dungeons would be a good idea. You'd further neuter fighter-types, who already have the short straw in this game, while not impacting mages, tamers, PKs, or anyone else, who already has a leg up. Further advice, for this thread and others... bundling potential changes, even in theory like this, is a bad idea, because the possible combinations get out of hand quickly. Already, there's: - gump from guarded to unguarded - recall in dungeons - flee from battle hindrance Each of those having two options, which makes for 8 potential combinations of opinions. We're not politicians; we don't need to try to force stuff into changes via earmarks. This really should be three polls, one for each of those items. Back to my initial point which started all this nonsense... the gump is a Trammel-based addition to UO, IMO, and thus should be removed, per the stated goals of the shard.
Can't we just extend the cast time for recall when criminal or in-heat-of-battle? Then remove that stupid gate gump, it's just annoying. Everyone should know by now not to walk into stray gates, and if they don't, they should learn after doing it once. All it does is make gating frustrating.
With all due respect, Dalavar, some of us won't respond well when you come in to a thread with some passive-aggressive quip like you did and then brow beat the rest of us for not staying on subject. This isn't a democracy and we aren't voting a new bill into action. We're brainstorming on a subject to better help the powers that be develop this shard. A lot of opinions have been expressed and valuable ideas have been presented. Many of these posters would not have presented these opinions and ideas were they left to make their own thread. Following your advice would merely silence these people. This is a productive start for making a positive change and mirrors quite a few that have happened in the past. If we made more near-meaningless polls you might just wear yourself out trying to police them all. You'll only find frustration trying enforce you own level of logical thematic development around here. Sorry for any offense you may take but my perception of your behavior in this thread is that you've taken sarcastic shots at others opinions and followed that up by telling them to take said opinions elsewhere.
Regardless of the number of different theories there's one common theme from all but the last option, MOST of us would like to see the gate gump removed. I guess it's up the discrepancy of the staff which of the suggested ideas would be beneficial to the server, but I think it's pretty common opinion that the gump menu when entering a gate from guarded to unguarded is widely disliked. Aside from that there are a few other common consistencies that seem to be liked such as the moon cycle coding for public moongates, and even Seige style ruleset has some popularity. The only option that is really up in the air is the removal of the hindrance upon recalling when an active criminal.
Hi Godric, Let's clear something up. I did not come to a thread with a passive-aggressive quip, I added to a passive-aggressive thread with a quip of similar ilk. But I will take your description of my initial post as a compliment; if you saw it as quip, that means it had a little bit of LULZ! And, on the subject: If by "some of us", you mean "you", then sure. Everyone else seems to be responding well. Maybe I'm just a glass-is-half-full guy though. (who thought the glass would be three-quarters full if each idea could be discussed on its own merit, not in combination with other ones) +1 to this, regarding common opinion of the gump. Though, I actually think the hindrance upon recalling is an interesting quality . I enjoy it so far, but don't have enough experience with it to be adamantly for it or against it. To me, it's still something new... much like level 6 treasure maps... so I'm still exploring it, figuring out the impact, and being surprised by it every once in a while. I don't yet know what it will be like when the novelty wears off.
lol. I also was annoyed that in order to pick the mechanic I thought was best I had to be a trammelite first. I have never owned a pair of blessed sandals, never sought rares or spent time decorating a house. I've never bank sat. I've pked tens and tens of thousands of players and was part of a pk/pvp guild that brought down what I think was the largest guild that ever existed in the game (Spawners, INC, Baja, ~500 members as well as alliances during AoS). I've killed the best of Lords of Death (baja), Fallen Lords (pac), Black Company (great lakes) and logged countless hours dueling with pk-hq.com members like bill nye - cats, and the members of qop on TC. Napo and I got pretty far in the OSI sponsored Tournament of Champions. But because I recognize that a super simple macro will instantly accept the gate gump and because I don't want people to recall away from me after attacking me, and I don't want newbies to be constantly walking through gates at WBB to people's houses where a bunch of guys are holding flamestrikes up for free kills - I prefer trammel. You can gate while a criminal here, guys. It's pretty sweet already. I think Chris is pretty committed to making sure this server is friendly to new players and non pvpers. There is no trammel here. PKing is super easy with 15 characters to choose from. I have 3 reds and everyone else in my guild has 3-5. And I do believe he's right if he thinks that a server that isn't friendly to non pvpers and new players will be a wasteland.
Guys, the trammel comment in the option isn't that serious. Get the f**k over it. I don't need a wall of text explaining to me why you aren't a trammelite. The voting is anonymous anyhow.
