So I have read a few different posts and am just wondering if anyone has a definite answer. Since gaining fishing is extremely long and boring..lol I was wondering if it is a jailable offense if you marco it but have the fish drop at your feet so you really aren't gaining any resources? Just curious since it is a long and slow process
If you fish from the shore you shouldn't get an afk macro gump until you hit GM. It should help with training.
We just finished training the fishermen. We were Macroing all night at the Brit docks and were jailed once during that time. We got jailed once. So I know it does happen but it was once and we GMed three guys.
Hmm thanks guys I just didnt really want to get jailed at all so I guess it will be the old fashion way
I hope by the old fashioned way u mean leaving your fisherman running a macro while u watch out for the notice. There is no auto jail. U get a little quiz u have to answer and if u do, then u can continue Macroing. Macroing is fine u just can't be AFK while u do it. I call it neold-fashioned.
You don't get jailed for fishing unattended if you're not 100.0 fishing. Check the patch notes (specifically for Patch 34, and again referenced in Patch 48). I've also confirmed this myself GM'ing two fishermen using overnight macros over 5-7 days, never once encountering the anti-macro gump or otherwise being jailed. Just make sure once you hit the high 90s you're macro'ing attended so you don't hit 100.0 while you're away.
If your worried about getting jailed while leveling up your fisherman, and fishing is the last skill you are trying to level up, all you have to do is lock .1 skill point in any other given skill, so your fishing can only get to 99.9. It works even if you have other skills you are trying to get to GM, you just have to be creative when locking skill points.
You may get jailed fishing on shore overnight if you hit GM, however A) it is unlikely and B) if it happens to you, simply page a GM or speak to them in IRC and they will confirm you were on shore and remove the mark. It happened to one of my fishermen and it wasn't a big deal.
I went to a dock that would let me fish off 3 different areas. I tailored my macro to hit different spots so as to lessen the "fish are not biting" Some people just sit their fishermen at 1 spot and just fish that spot over and over which will work but takes a much longer time to GM. You have to play with an area and tailor your macro to target all the sweet spots for the maximum amount of time you can go without getting "fish are not biting"
