Just an example: It is forbidden to use the public IRC channels and public forums. But afaik it is not forbidden to PM people or scam them ingame.
Scamming Players may not use the public community to advertise a scam, dishonest trade, or trap ingame. Players may not use the public community to conduct a scam, dishonest trade, or trap ingame. Players found to have been advertising or conducting these activities can lose their access to IRC or the Forums. Scamming other players can easily fall under the discouraging gameplay policy. Examples of discouraging game play: • Excessive attempts to scam other players. So basically scamming is *not* a bannable offense but if one uses IRC or the forum to scam then they can be banned from IRC of the forum for it. Otherwise it appears scamming is tolerated within reason.
And then again, consider the last point. A blank formulation enabling Staff to justify any jailings, bans etc. I really would ignore such vague rules like the last point until exact decisions are made by Staff that could be publicly discussed (hopefully without flame wars).
i would be intertested in joining. i am fairly new, but love playing a thief and plan to work him up asap
Try making some posts here, I believe there are a few small guilds/groups of thieves running around still.
5D was dismissed, mainly because of inactivity of its members. We had like 95% inactive thieves that even started to demand better treatment on their non-thief characters because they had some (unused) toon in 5D. Ultimately, all the remaining active thieves preferred to band together in another guild. However, that doesnt mean that 5D will never return.
Ah, cool. Yeah, I had a lot of family engagements that came up. I'll do some sleuthing around. Guess things fell off quick. Miss you BlackEye.
Haha, the fate of all thief guilds. Seems the only way it works is when the members are all active and play together regularly, or a group where nobody pvp/pvm's really (like cA).
You say that, but I guarantee if you go around scamming people you will be banned from the game. Might get away with it once or twice depending on how much staff likes you.
Is... IS.... Yes many things aren't stealable. @BlackEye can tell you all about this but off the top of my head: Can only be stolen by random steal (not targeted directly): Normal runebooks Too heavy to steal: Some trophies Some armor and weapons (halberds? ringmail arms?) Newbied (Not lootable from blue corpses, fall to red corpses, not sure about stealing): House Deeds Anniversary Jewelry Blessed: Spellbooks Blessed Runebooks (most are not blessed, it's expensive) Blessed Clothing and other specific, often holiday rares (Probably dry docked ships?) (Checks?)
I am too arrogant to answer basic things like these. *looks like disgusted nobility* (But in all honesty, just play your thief and learn that things by yourself. If you have advanced questions, I can answer them in IRC private chats.)
The usual stuff I'd expect. What about repeat stealing? Say, your target has 1000 gold, could you (in theory) keep doing it until he has none? And does pickpocketing automatically reveal you, whether it successful or not? The stealing skill description here doesn't say.
Yeah you can keep stealing from stacks until they're empty if no one sees you. Stacks produce unfortunately common fails and low results but I remember sitting behind someone AFK and just taking like 1800 regs from them. I always got revealed when I tried to steal. I think everyone does but not sure. I haven't stolen in a long time, especially after 5D was disbanded.
