I'm game with a banker in the duel areas. Other than that, and this hurts to say, I agree with Mes. Duel on a blue if you don't want to be ganked. I do enjoy the automated duel system and believe it should stay apart of this shard. A duel pit should be no different than the risk any blue in a dungeon takes when out pvming. #keepfeluciaalive #thestruggleisreal
lol @Vlar. Solution: Remove self from caring about that which you do not have any interest in. The difference, HateCrime, is that blues farming in dungeons aren't announced (when Red Rover's not around) in IRC and they are not trapped in there for a specific duration. Allowing a cool-down and brief time window to leave the area is something that is fair to all players who choose to have a gentlemanly ranked and logged duel. Making it so I can only duel on blue characters, the majority of mine which being PvM characters, makes it imbalanced and unfair. If there is to be a leaderboard and logging of duel results, it should be fairly and evenly accessible to any and all templates regardless of guild or faction affiliation, in my opinion. No one can get to the arenas without using the gates or walking up to the arena itself. If you want to gank oranges, do so when they are en route or mid-signup. There is no justification to continue allowing such shenanigans post-match, other than cheap kill point farming (when anyone other than my -6ers are there) and discouraging gameplay.
Why not just put the duel pit in Trammell then, considering that's the only place I can remember factioners expecting to not be attacked. I mean you're literally asking for Trammell here
Remember when your miner was ganked outside of wrong cave by PKS and you raved about it for weeks and then wouldn't leave your house? This is no different, other than : 1.) With your miner, you at least had the opportunity to recall away when you saw us running up from a distance. 2.) Your name and location were not announced publicly, via IRC prior to locating you.
I most certainly see both sides of the argument and could honestly care less if a 5 second "safe" timer was enacted after a duel, if nothing changed, or if the pits were placed in trammel. I think we all know what risks we take when we go and perform certain actions. I've also seen a ton of shards that have the duel pits 100% protected and its never been an issue. We may not be able to leave the area when the gank squad shows up and waits outside, however we could avoid that situation in the first place and we all take the risk of said situation occurring when we go to the pits on warred characters. I also know the dueling system is great to promote activity and help get new players into the pvp scene so its sort of a shitty situation if said ganks prevent that. In the end it doesn't matter which way you view the situation, the outcome is fine in my book. With that said, to prevent back/forth bickering, my vote goes to a banker at the pits and I'm neutrally opinionated to a 5 second safe timer after a duel. I'd say if it saves Telamon a headache so he can focus efforts elsewhere, then so be it.
If we were asking for Trammel, it would be more like asking if when we said "I wish to duel" we were magically transported to a duel arena and magically sent home afterward so as not to have any open world interaction where the consensual Faction PvP some have signed up for, could take place, without restrictions. The suggestion is simply to make the sanctioned dueling system fairly accessible and free from discouraging game play, on exit alone, as it is entirely an additional mini-game within the world of Britannia. Much like AMiBs, some holiday events and other shard games. You have every ability to engage your enemies on their approach to the arena and the entire time they are managing the rather tedious sign-up process. If for some reason you feel that having an announced opportunity to essentially force someone into a situation they have no recourse for is appropriate, you are asking for killpoint Trammel yourself. While I understand the detractors of such things as CTF and sanctioned shard tournaments are dismayed by the lack of pure Feluccan levels of discouraging game play they reminisce about so fondly, I daresay it does not make for a healthy shard. I'm not off base when I assume Telamon is of like mind in that he would like to foster healthy open world combat, while also providing a number of fairly sanctioned systems that provide good fun for those who enjoy it. Hence the gates in Buccaneer's Den for murderers to attend events. This is what balance is about and anyone disinterested in taking part in any system, is perfectly free to choose not to. That said, choosing not to should not implicitly provide fish in a barrel for your own ego padding. The duel system is meant to be just that and that alone, not a mean, dirty and often unfair system but quite the opposite. There are opportunities, every three days, for finding enemies in specific locations that you should have no problem at all tracking down, without even looking at IRC. Even in between those times, I have heard tell of some players having no trouble accomplishing upwards of 5-15 kills per day, in their chosen field of combat. The CTF, Tournaments and Duel systems may be a pain point for the hardened Feluccan but I say with no uncertainty, that you are not alone, nor the only demographic that this shard is being built for. Many have come for exactly such systems and now that they are here and being fleshed out in earnest, making them perfect does not require making them purely Felucca in essence. That is what player hosted events and the various open world consensual combat systems are for.
Also... Stare at my forum signature for a few minutes. I promise there are no subliminal messages being transmitted into your mind.
Ok, so I put you guys on blast for being douchily bags and running a 5 man gank on my miner, much like you did to SL for killing people on oranges at the duel pit. Wanna know what I didn't do? Make a thread asking for a 5 second delay when attacked by pks whIle mining. You can't sit there and tell me that being ganked on a character who is blue outside the guard zone is any less expected than being ganked on an orange anywhere you might find other oranges. You're making it very obvious that you're only arguing to further your own cause without any regard for the opinions of those who have legitimate reasons to disagree
I feel like if you guys want a 5 second timer to not get attacked on your oranges at a duel, all PvMers should get a free 5 sec when a red comes on screen, Trammell for everyone, case closed
I see you sitting at the duel pit with CoM frequently, there's your oranges, go kill em if you want fights
I died in a pretty good fight at the duel pits the other day. Right outside when I engaged a guy who was reskilling a teammate. We wound up in the expected 3v3, I think Les called me a noob and I tried to say GF if anyone was listening. I had fun.
I dunno, it was a couple Dank Nuggets and Camel Toe. I got there after the initial foray and waited to engage until I assessed the situation. I ressed a guy and he went to pick through his corpse when Camel Toe res killed him, so I engaged Camel Toe and then the two DNs rolled up around the same time the other two TB came up and I got a nap after inability to pull off a heal after repeated cures. I assume that was you on the noxxer or where there two noxxers? I didn't pay too close attention but I had a bitch of a time staying unpoisoned. I resorted to my war axe that hopefully one of you picked up, as it was agapite runic if I recall. Anyway, I had some fun but didn't have the patience to restock for another go that night so I wrapped up and called it a night. I honestly shouldn't have even gotten into it but there was a nice window of 15 minutes of my life where RL wasn't screwing me sideways, so I went for it. In any regard, GF. Generally Les calls me noob, pretty much all the time, so I guessed one of the DNs was him and lol'd.
