    Hey gang.

Just came back to UO, after not playing for 10+ years.

Anyhow... I started a Provo / Dexxer for gold. Got a house, some regs, bandages, etc.

I started a tamer a few nights ago since that is what I've always played, and PvP'd with.

The guides in the guide section look dated, and a few comments point to that as well. I'm currently at 60.2 taming and struggling hard. Skill gain seems extremely slow, more so than I remember on official servers.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dagger island, circle the island taming wolves and leopards. When you pass a healer or a troll, etc stick them on it and keep moving. Shouldn't take long to get 71.1 for bulls

Alright, here is a spreadsheet of min. taming values for UOR.
CM's advice is good, except don't tame wolves until you get to 65.1. At that point, wolves would be the best option. The fundamental theory behind gaining taming is that you want to maximize your failures, while maintaining at least >0% chance of success. So at 65.1, you will JUST be able to tame a white wolf, although you will fail a lot. Each attempt, even those resulting in failure, have a chance to gain. That means you could gain a handful of times off of a single animal!
Also important to note, taming difficulty increases by 6 points every time an animal has been tamed. This means someone previously taming a white wolf would put it in the "0% chance of success" category, and you would only know this if they were kind and renamed it. If you sit at any animal for too long of a time, perhaps its been secretly tamed and released before. You are better off just moving on.
Once 71.1, its bull pens to GM.
