The damn Ratman and the fact that I didn't go in there looking for a fight but found one anyway haha.
^^^ OK i think this one deserves an explanation! Did you drop a gate to Delucia behind you? Or did you pull the old rune switcheroo by naming it something enticing for a pk which in reality leads to a heavily guarded bank? Do tell!
This was one of my all time favorite kills on this server (although it actually happened a while ago).. This is the kill that got me some jail time..
Long story short, I joined Rembrandt's guild with the intent of killing him and his guild mates. After that, I created a character named Rembrandt to essentially taunt him, but then decided to actually work up his skills and turn him into a PK, so when people got PKed, they would question him in IRC. I tracked him at his house and found him hidden there afk on his main crafter character who has all his BOD books runic stuff etc on him and killed him. He went to the staff and essentially quit right there on the spot and I was jailed. I had to plea for my life and changed the character's name (who is now Eastwood). I talked to Rembrandt after that and he said he was just having a bad day. We've reconciled since the incident
I also mimic'd his guild (247). As you can see in the pic, my guild abbrev. was "274". People didn't even know the difference lol
Wait...so you killed an afk character with a doppelganger and you got jail time because they raged quit to guilt staff into punishing you?? Do I have this right?
What your missing Cero is that "jail time" in this instance isn't like a ban or something, or sitting in that cell for hard time. I cant say firsthand but I picture it as them having a chat with him about disparaging game play, which his actions here are the epitome of.
Ya El Horno is pretty spot on as to what it was. All of my characters were in jail though Fun times.. memorable picture
Yeah, that's part of the sandbox that makes uo...uo. It's not a jailable offense it's just griefing, and while it may be a dick move it is part of this game.
And this isn't some theoretical UO that exists in a bubble. Its a UO privately run shard with rules concerning discouraging gameplay.
I agree with you El Horno, I think that's what people get wrong time and time again. This is a "private" server and if the owner wants to jail someone for what he feels is griefing, that's what's going to happen. The owner makes the rules and anyone who wants to play here has to abide by them. Hell, the owner could pull the plug on this thing anythime he wants to and doesn't owe anyone an explanation as to why.
