Ale in hand--where it rightly belongs--I'll join you for the tale of a gift for a friend who provokes beasts and demons alike to fight among themselves, while he takes a page out of my book: hiding in the shadows, awaiting his prize. Except, ya know, I can't e-bolt my quarry to smithereens. But I digress.

I first spotted the gift for my friend in Occlo, being held for safe keeping by the adventurer Dominic, Knight of Sosaria. Disguised and under a false name, I approached him quietly, deftly, a student of finesse. Just as I was about to retrieve the item, I noticed not one, but two guards giving me the stink-eye. So I waited, but Dominic, Knight of Sosaria, ran off and vanished before I could get him in a more agreeable location. I cursed the gods. My friend would not be pleased.

Time flies, taking me to the markets on the outskirts of Yew, where I spot far off in the distance none other than Dominic, Knight of Sosaria! No guards for miles, I make my move... but, too soon! Dominic, Knight of Sosaria, senses my approach, takes flight, and vanishes into a moongate, leaving no trace behind.

I travelled. Skara Brae. Magicina. Trinsic. Occlo. I find no trace of Dominic, Knight of Sosaria.

Finally, I made one last stop in Moonglow, to search for dried herbs, and who do I see in the distance? I clear my eyes to make sure I'm not imagining this. I have found none other than--say it with me now--Dominic, Knight of Sosaria!

Having remembered exactly where it was in his pack, I pushed my horse to the limit and took my prize before he had a chance to react. Sometimes, the touch of finesse is best left at home, and this was one of those times. I made my escape even faster--my bard friend will be pleased with his gift!

Now, to find a vendor with some gift wrap...

    Honour Among Thieves:

Today I discovered that it seems karma affects more than just your title.

After a particularly slow day filled with empty backpacks and enthusiastic town guards I succeeded in pilfering a ship's key from a chap in Skara. Unable to recall onto it I went back and helped myself to his runes as well, why not? I came across this thread seeking respite from my bad day at the office - imagine my surprise when I see that my mark was none other than regular contributor von Stuben himself!

I had broken the Thieves' code, albeit unwittingly, and stolen from another thief. I vowed to make amends at the earliest opportunity and was lucky enough to later spy von Stuben on the roof of the vendor house at Occlo bank. En route to return his belongings I naturally took the opportunity to peer into a passerby's backpack and spotted something shiny and platinum-y twinkling at me from inside his reagents pouch. I removed it to the safety of my own pouch and then made my escape - sure that Stubs would understand the delay.

As it happens he had witnessed the lift and after my name was again cleared with the local constabulary I reunited him with his key and runes. I received in return some useful advice in our profession (much obliged). Advice can only get you so far however and every thief needs a bit of luck - and in the hour that followed the gods of fortune saw fit to reward my gesture with marks sporting two more platinum coins, a fancy instrument and a collection of weapons and wands, please forgive the lack of action shots:

Just coming into town form my afternoon constitutional, who did i stumble across - none other than Gordo. Gordo appeared to be trying to tame a llama in town, it looked rather unhappy to be subjected to the process, so I approached with the intention of giving him a few pointers on taming (I am after all a very successful tamer, as well as a thief).

Old habits hold hard and i couldn't help but peak thru his bag. There i spotted a mighty fine sword, a sword fit for a knight.

I hid and waited patiently, having completely forgotten my original intentions of taming.... when he was sufficiently preoccupied with his llama, i made my grab and went for a quick run.

Some seconds later - he gave chase, only to have lost me in the shrubs of Moonglow.

Gordo, I thank you for your donation.

After leaving Moonglow, i head to Occlo to touch up on my tailoring... and who do i stumble across there - none other than Withyr. Withyr and I go way back.... he was one of my first PKs (or atleast attempted PKs) - pack horse killing, lumberjack griefing, sonofabitch, that Withyr. So, I felt obligated to his property when I saw his beautiful vanq battle axe.

I approached, put a wall of stone up and punched him in the gut. He dropped his axe, I grabbed it and made haste. I returned shortly thereafter and asked if he'd like to purchase his property back.... we couldn' t come to an agreement, so I left with his axe.

It has been a good afternoon!

A good day to you all on this fine day that were it like any other day would still be today!

On this day, we tip our hat to the nameless hero--who shall remain nameless because the chronicler's memory is like a sieve these days--who's seafaring days have come to an end, I'm afraid.

Let me take you now to Occlo, land of perpetual macroing, where I happened upon this nameless hero, and saw something that immediately draw my attention.

We have found ourselves a a sailor! I did what any self-respecting poacher of items would do in this situation, which is of course to remove the item from nameless's possession. The sea is a dangerous maiden, and I care for the safety of those I come across. So, ya know, *yoink*.

Noticing strange markings, I threw caution into the wind and cast recall--one of the few spells I paid attention to in thief school's magery track--and found myself in the company of a grand sailing vessel!

The tillerman looked skeptical as I requested he dry dock the ship, but once he saw the gold key in my hands, he shrugged and gave in. They know nothing but to obey the holder of the key.

And so our tale ends, as the the beginning of the Eye Steel Navy™ joins the day's other found treasures in my bank vault.

"I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold
We'd fire no guns-shed no tears
Now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
The last of Barrett's Eye Steel's Privateers."

I returned to my Serpents Hold home after another tedious day of gathering Eggs in order to feed my addiction. That rabbit pelt will soon be mine! Having deprived myself of any thefts as of lately, I felt it was only right to return to my favorite dungeon in search of riches.

Upon arriving, I discovered Rem and a fellow swordsman attempting to dispatch a Blood Elemental. Rem's pack contained an easter egg… THOSE are my eggs! He forced my hand and I quickly removed his prized treasure map and made a run for the hills.

A day of decorating had left the mind numb and the senses dull. But it has been said keeping a tidy home can translate to other facets of ones life. With that out of the way, I made for Occlo bank in search of an adventure this fine afternoon.

    serp.jpg

After making my rounds at the bank, I soon noticed a man carrying a silver sword. I followed him for a few minutes where he was eventually joined by two accomplices, a mage and a lumberjack that happened to be wielding a Silver/Force executioner's axe. Assuming these men must be off for a hunt, I joined them through their moongate, arriving at the Lich Lord spawn. They experienced a few close calls with death but it seemed as if I may never have an opportunity at one of their fine weapons. Eventually to my luck, the great Lumberjack was trapped between a Lich Lord and a hard place, taking a dirt nap right in the doorway. As his comrades went to revive him, I slipped through the shadows prying the weapon from his dead hands without ever being discovered. Having then recalled to Occlo and stashing the weapon in my bank box, I returned to see if these Warriors may be interested in purchasing their weapon back in order to continue their business. I informed them as to the location of their Lich slayer and to my surprise they found much humor in the mystery disappearance of their beloved axe. Little did I know that I was dealing with a band of Expert Bargainers! After offering them a very fair price of 8K in my mind, they regaled me with stories of poverty and hardship, tugging on the heart strings of Ol' Pockets. Not wanting to see these men go hungry, we agreed on 4.5k for the axe and the men were once again on their way to riches… while I was left wondering what had just happened.

All-in-all I think he did quite well if you put the amount of the effort up against the amount made.

Although, perhaps next time you should hire an arbitrator.:D

With the help of a friendly disarmer co-worker (see corpses), I was able to get a piece of perfectness! Thanks!

I will gladly act in the roll of arbitrator, however my fees are typically 15k up front, and 20% of gross thereafter.

With nothing exciting to be found within city limits, I took my talents to the dungeons. After traveling to a few spawns without much luck, I wandered to the spawn of Executioners where I discovered an unnamed lumberjack making easy work of these villains. I set my sights on the Repond axe that he was wielding and began studying his tactics, seeing as I don't have the ability to disarm my foes. As he was nearing 10,000gp in his pack I found a cozy spot in the shadows next to him hoping to steal his weapon as he recalled to to the bank. To my luck, 2 executioners targeted him at once, forcing him to chug a potion! As soon as he disarmed his weapon, drinking his potion, I snatched his axe and ran for the exit! The shock of it all bought me enough time to get distance and successfully make it out of the dungeon alive. Having a soft spot in my heart for a man ballsy enough to wield a slayer weapon in a dungeon, I returned and we were able to strike a deal for 20k in exchange for his axe and a pinky promise that I wouldn't steal it again. Kudos to you sir for being a good sport about it all (you know who you are)!

I always forget to take pics in the heat of the moment....

That being said I was snooping a gent at the ocllo bank and found him holding a green amib! I was able to successfully take it from him, and come back to find him calling the guards on me, but it was too late...

Additionally I spooked him and he ran to the moongate, where I snooped him to find 20-30 tmaps, and about the same in regular mibs. He flashed off screen through the gate... I was lucky enough to pick the right city to go to!

I followed him to a vendor he had near the gate, trying not to scare him unsuccessfully he began to run around speratric. He then put his bag of of booty on said vendor and ran off. I was able to score the whole bag, for 999 gold.

Yes, you miscreant! Les refunded me and I just got another blue gift box from him ... taken home before you get your hands on it!!!

I've just read more of the page - which is very funny - but Horse is a more careful reader and noticed this SHOCKING sentence:

    4) Acquiring mark on weird horse.!!!!!!!!

@Taliic, I'm sure will leap to his defence ... Horse (always with a capital H) is a sweet, innocent, lovely creature, who is never weird, just simply odd, a little eccentric and occasionally cranky (but so would you be if you spent so much time with Abramelin).
