Oh -- looks like last night the WTFast servers were down or something -- they're still having some issues today. I thought it wasn't a ping issue but packet loss, so I thought maybe my problem was different. I also didn't think my Comcast connection's traceroute hit any verizon stuff. Testing the WTFast thing now. Second problem so far... there are no games in the drop down list. It's blank.
Soo... still can't get it to work. Isn't that right? Gives me error message WTFast could not locate the game file or game launcher.
Okay -- even though I get error message and that screen (which Peace tells me he does not get) I was able to just start Razor myself and it seems to connect. First impressions is it takes those huge ping spikes of 300-500-1000 and levels em' out to about 100.
Aye! Those spikes in ping that would go from 50ping to 300-1000 were down to only as high as 100~. It also fixed the bouts of 1 to 2 minutes of total lagging I was getting too.
I should say I'm still having ping spikes. According to WTFast I had 200 of them in a few hours. They're just much less severe with WTFast.
I noticed this problem on both my Verizon connections recently and this solution seems to work. Confirmed: the "Possible Connection Issue" error message changes after logging into Razor and into a character.
Haven't tried the solution yet, but just wanted to mention at this point that I can't even stay logged in at peak hours. Seems like 8pm EST to Midnight (or later) at this point. Throughout the day beforehand, it's absolutely fine. But there is clearly some kind of throttling happening at peak hours.
I am in the same boat - unfortunately, I'm dependent on WTFast to carry me through peak hours. When WTFast is off, speedtest.net reads a routine up/dl speed that doesn't sync up with the amount of in-game's connection problems I'm receiving.
My ping problem has worsened lately. Packet loss is a big one. I can ping 80-90's and then have a 384ms which turns into my toon freezing on screen. Dueling/pvp is a joke lately. WTFast doesn't seem to get rid of the packet loss. Loss is several jumps away, past my ISP. Maybe I have to manually configure the connection...
xD Mine is still all f'd up. Just to be sure I played a TON of TF2 the last few days. Tore it up with a low low never spike'n ping......... LE SIGH
Lost connection overnight. But typically the slowdown occurred 8pm EST to midnight, and last night I was running full speed at 10:25pm. May have just been my wireless router or soemthing.
I was able to run around for some faction fights Tuesday night and I had a 70ms ping with the occasional 140ms or so spike (varies maybe once every 2 minutes). I'm usually 60-70ms range. Other UO examples Second Age I'm 20-30ms and AnC 150-160ms on a good night. I'm in the western NY area with Time Warners Turbo internet. Free WtF doesn't seem to do much for me other than provide info about the connection.
