Consensual combat with an objective that prevents a bunch of blue-healing stupidity one constantly finds in Order/Chaos.

Thanks for the response! So is there nothing more to factions? Just for fighting?

Colored mounts, faction clothing/weps that can be blessed for a specific amount of time.
Faction vendors that you can buy regs from and uhh...other stuff.

Pretty much just about fighting and getting some pretty colored stuff that doesn't matter. Faction Runics are nifty but temporarily blessed so not some great boon to the players.
The most tangible benefit would be the resource vendors that, when in control of a town, you can place right at the bank for easy bulk purchasing. This could be turned around onto player vendors for a markup but I've only known one person to really do that thus far.

I think I saw some people faction fighting outside my new shack last night! It looked like fun! Though I wasn't sure if it was actually a trick or not to get me to open my door! Lol!

Also I have seen several areas I could not enter which had faction stones outside them! Seemed interesting!

Yeah, I've burgled enough people back in the Second Age (which I have concluded was the actual era I played) during before going to EQ to fall for those old tricks! Lol!

However I did also use to hold my door open for people so they could walk in and flag themselves grey as well on many occassions. I was such a mean person.

Don't worry about factions, it is one system that has yet to be perfected.
