For some reason, I thought of the synth qualities in this song (and band generally), and did a little searching for the song with a glitch hop twist. I felt that the dj didn't butcher the song; he just amplified the enjoyability of the original track. I also think this thing is a 21st century deep track--only 62 views. Listen to the whole thing Mindless. It has a steady quality.
Mad props for hearing the synth similarities Faber! I love me some Beastie Boys... and I could absolutely see this being the version you'd want to play if you were trying to fit some beastie boys into a Glitch Hop set.... But otherwise I don't think it holds weight on it's own. (ie. There are plenty of glitch hop songs that are amazing in their own right, without having to borrow nostalgia.)
Word, I don't branch out too much into the glitch hop/dubstep world. I do remember the first dubstep song I ever heard. I had a student during my first year teaching that said that this song made her think of the hound from Fahrenheit 451. From an intertextuality point of view, the two pieces (particularly the lyrics matching the hound's characteristics) mesh perfectly.
Skrillex catches a lot of flack... Even (maybe especially) from me. I guess that's what happens when you are so successful. But "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" (The album that gained him all the popularity) was pretty game changing.... regardless of whether or not "you were into it" Right place right time.
One of my favorites! If you liked Koan Sound, the entire album is amazing. https://soundcloud.com/koan-sound/dynasty
I agree with your assessment, I was able to bs my way through years of school...but not you, not you grasshopper. Ps...participation award?
WINNER! Honestly; Dierdra would have won this category with the Opiuo submission had she not already won another category... I mean come on; the guy has UO in his name (and his music is killer) But I do like that Glitch Mob track. Contact me in IRC when you want to collect.
