Both side have to be in game? Or i can buy real life items with UO gold. I need a new weed dealer. I'll buy a 1/4 for 2mill.
Not that I believe any of it.. But didn't you see all the Snowden stuff? Someone accused someone of trading beer for items.
If that was the case, to be honest I still don't see where is the problem, as long as it is an agreement in between player I believe everyone should be free to spend their virtual currency however they like... Its a different story instead if real currency is allowed to buy virtual good, but there is a huge difference in between...
Chers buddy, I mostly agree, I was just talking more in general about paying real money per in-game virtual goods, its a mechanic that might end up ruining a game, but this said I don't think it has anything to do with this case. And anyway you exposed it so good that should you need a signature, you'll get a discount
I could see where this could be slippery. Using a job skill to make gold in UO that others can only make by playing the game. I cant use my job skills to make money and buy gold.I also disagree with its the same as taking a commission, because he's being paid in UO gold, which he cant purchase with money if that where what he was being paid in. I actually think him being paid in real money would be less of a slippery slope, because that doesn't involve the game at all, and is outside of its rule structure. If he were to take commissions for all 25 pms he received and charged the same 1.5 mil per commission, that's 37,500,000 without even logging into the game. And it is a way to make gold that those without that specific real life skill cannot duplicate. That could defiantly constitute and unfair advantage. I would like to see @Telamon make a ruling on this for future reference. In the end, I don't really care, but I could see how others would. And if this is deemed legal, I will certainly have me one of those signatures if he were generous enough to accept my commission.
What about your in game platinum prize for your participation in an ms paint art contest in which your entry was painted in the real world. If the issue is semantics, lets do what medical marijuana and other industries do and call it a "donation" or "prize".
Im just playing devils advocate here. I could see why it would bother @NerK. I think its a fair thing to discuss. Personally, I could care less, but then again, im one of those who do not care if people buy gold with r/l money. I look at it as people spending money on a hobby, and time and money are interchangeable, if people want to spend time making gold I am indifferent as to their method. Your signature is freaking amazing and if this is allowed then this dude is going to have so much work he's never going to be able to log in again lol.
It's a contest vs. a repeating service though. I think @Stovokor hits it right on the head with this sentence: I think that really just sums it up on my concern. Cos if I had the skill I would totally do it so I can buy a nicer house! Way faster than trading/farming. But similar to @Stovokor, I could also care less. Just think it is good discussion in light of recent of events. Now I feel really bad cause we are effectively turning something that was meant to be fun, into politics. Sorry @E1000! I think the timing is just coincidental because of the other drama. If I never read that thread, I never would have given this any second thought. EDIT: IMO the general public consensus seems is that nobody really has a problem with it since it's in the spirit of Ultima.
Per the code of conduct: "Buying or Selling items for any form of currency outside the game world, virtual or tangible is not allowed." IMO a custom signature is in no way a form of currency. It only has value to the person it is made for. Who else would want an elhorno signature? Also once placed in the signature box of the forums, anyone could just right click and save it. Who could I resell it to under the circumstances? It completely lacks fungibility.
Woah, Hoominaga that one's godlike! I never thought of you as a great hero saving us all, but wow, you really opened up the eyes of my heart with this one!
