Been away for a while, but let me get this right. They killed or looted this person and got their valuable items, then continued to prevent them from looting what was left, is this correct? I would consider that being a douche, not a very friendly thing to do. Is it something worth quitting over, no not really. I would have restocked and came back to try to kill them. Maybe cast an EV on them with nothing other than regs so if I got guard whacked it is what it is, but it would have made me feel better knowing that they knew in the future I wasn't going to take their crap. Just my 2 cents worth
I did not read anything after the first page and after my comment..but here is my analysis.... You got PK'd... PK was not done looting your body... You continue to try and loot the rest of your stuff... And die over and over and over...and over...and over.... After the first or second time, did you not realize that you were not going to get back what you had on your body? All of this sociopthic talk, yet everyone is forgetting that YOU are the one who continued to get killed... I believe ol' Albert once said "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.."
PK was done looting my body. I was able, eventually, to get back my armor and instrument. No, it was apparent that with proper movement and depending on monster involvement, I would be able to obtain my items (which I did). The reason why it took 15 minutes to get everything back was because the loot kept transferring to different dead bodies. Bodies don't last 15 minutes, so your entire post is wrong in substance and principle, but solid analysis regardless.
Sure, people handle situations very differently depending on a variety of circumstances. I handled mine by completely liquidating my assets and giving over 4m gold to two friends of mine and quitting. Others would have just counted everything as a loss and moved on to another hunting spot. Time will tell if I made the right decision or not, but seeing as how since I've quit, I've gotten a 95 on a Discrete Structures test and a 110 on a Javascript project while having no urges to play, things are looking good so far.
See, you have thick skin. Tough it out and stay and play, jeez EDIT: If UO was interfering with real life work/homework, then turn around and dont look back. This shit can grab a hold of your balls and not let go. Good job on those tests! Delete characters to actually "quit". If you don't, we will see you soon (TM)
I wouldn't say it was about thick or thin skin. I just don't want to play with people like that. My sister is a sociopath (diagnosed), and I have cut her out of my life because of it. Many have said that it was a hasty decision that I should rethink, but since I've done it, my life has been infinitely better and relatively stress free while her life has fallen off a cliff. Sometimes people see someone walking away as a weak or childish move made without a lot of thought, which often times it can be. I feel that most of the decisions I make, regardless of what they look like to outsiders, are made carefully and with considerable thought. Now, I may comeback some day, who's to know, but I don't want to play right now. I've had many kind people offer help in the future if I decide to come back, so the door is always open, but honestly, this past week has been incredibly productive and fun, so coming back seems unlikely at this point.

Honest question, you don't have to answer. What would you think of your ideals/principles if you keep playing/come back? Worthless complaining? Or still valid "psychological analysis" of random UO player? I mean if you can while complaining about a "sociopath" think out loud about coming back to a game where known "sociopath" plays, i get the feeling i shouldn't put much weight in your "carefully and considerable thought."
Well, the principles/ideas are avoiding negative people to encourage a more positive outcome. There is a way in which you can play UO, which even with sociopaths, allows you to avoid the majority of the conflict (which was presented to me by friends as an option). I chose that instead of limiting myself, I'd rather not play. We all deal with stress in different ways, and there is defined "best" answer as people vary wildly when it comes to how stress affects each one of us. Also, you assume that I would come back while Deathboy and his group are still playing. That is a faulty assumption. Lastly, you don't know me in the slightest. You shouldn't put any weight in my careful and considerable thought. You can agree or disagree with my assessment, which I am fine with either, but I don't think that you should put any weight into what I say until you've had considerable conversations with me to understand who I am, at least at a base level.
