Hi guys In 13 years of UO i only played mages chars so i want to change something. I was wondering about a mixture like Magery Anatomy Tactics Resisting Fencing Healing Poisoning 80 str 100 dex 45 int It works? Advices? Tips? Thank u guys very friendly community
No that template doesn't work, and by doesn't work I mean it works so well, people won't fight you. Everyone I fight with my poison fencer run away or get help. I love playing mine, you can use bandages, pots, heal wands and magery to heal. Very hard to kill. Between the dp warfork, and purple pots and lighting wands, you can really spew damage.
Mage "heavy" Take your base of the standard 'mage 5' ... Evaluate Intelligence Magery Magic Resistance Mediation Wrestling and add tactics along with... fencing, swordsmanship, maces, or archery Carry a good one and two handed weapon (example swordsmanship: Halberd and katana) and you've got yourself a standard tank mage throwback from the old days. This template spawned from days before meditation and mana regeneration was passive. Magery was used for burst and the weapon was the main source of damage. That's of course also when one could pre-cast but, that's a different story/rant. Good luck with weapon usage and PvP here. The weaponry formulas are borked.
really subjective The flavor of the month is... 90 str 45 dex 90 int Depends on your style and what you're going to be doing, really.
i'm not really think to play 1vs1 but i'd like to be useful in a pvp equipe! so thank you again! i'll let u know
I'm sorry, I read your post too fast and misunderstood. If I now understand you correctly, you've usually played mage type characters in the past and are looking to play more of a melee based character with a little magery?
Most look at what's currently best and compare everything to it. That's not necessarily wrong if your objective is to min/max your experience. However, If you're out to have some fun, there are plenty of ways to go about it with the character type you're looking for. And regarding that... there are MANY combinations out there that imo are all viable when compared to your personal objectives. Heck, the template you listed could work... it just depends on what your target(s) are. Go to the server test center, throw some templates around, and take them out for some trial and error.
wylwrk is a bit confused it seems, you would not want wrestling on a tank build, you would want anatomy instead. blasfede irc me if you like, I can help a bit.
just make a build that you would think is fun. Roll with it. I can tell you from personal experience I hate fighting that nox build. Dat warfork damage is OP
I am a little confused about wrestling and defensive wrestling. Does the skill Wrestling not provide defense? Eval int + Anatomy = defensive wrestling Ok, but does pure wrestling also increase your chance of dodging an attack? Which is more effective? Thank you!
It is an addition created for mage (type) characters that allows more diverse templates. With 200 skill points a character could have... bonus to spell damage bonus to melee damage bonus to "healing" (via the healing skill) and... defensive wrestling The people saw it and it was good. Then a dexxer raised his hand and asked, "scuse me sirs, may I have a way to get around the world quickly without investing in skill points that fubar my template? Perhaps were I to combine two warrior type skills I would be committing myself thus earning this ability to recall around?" And the people saw it and laughed. "Stupid dexxer, of course not... if you want an ability you have to invest the points in it! For example if we want to be able to wrestle good we have to... oh wait, never mind. Hey look, water into wine! * In Mani Yelm *" And the people saw it. And some of them /face palmed at the hypocrisy. http://uorforum.com/threads/poll-recall-from-runebook-100-regardless-of-magery-skill.16243/
Thanks for the answer wylwrk. I can understand your frustration at the recalling from a runebook requires magery issue. Maybe I missed something in your answer, but which is more effective for defensiveness? Wrestling or eval int + anat? Or are they the same in effectiveness? Do they stack together? Thanks
