    Greetings my fellow Britannians!

A problem which has long haunted Ultima Online is the way that characters are attached to their macro/desktop files. Ultima Online looks for a macro/desktop based on the name of the character when it is logged on. As a result, if a character is logged off while currently disguised or under the effect of the incognito spell, Ultima Online will be unable to find their macros/desktop the next time you log onto the character and you will get the default set-up. The only way to fix this is for a disguise kit is to suicide your character.

I'm sure most of us have run into this inconvenient problem.

    Suggested Solutions:
    • Add a "remove disguise" button in the disguise kit menu.
    • Make a world item (e.g., oil cloth) have the ability to remove disguises if self-targeted (or even allow players to use it on each other!)
@Chris already heard player's concerns and tried a "hotfix" by making disguises only last 2 hours (thanks!). While this is an appreciated quick change, I do not think it's an optimal solution. It stops players from using characters to RP (you will have to pick a different name after 2 hours) and also makes players wait two hours from the time they used the kit to log off or to kill themselves.

Any discussion about my proposed solutions or suggested ones of your own would be much appreciated. Please keep an eye towards ease of implementation.

    Thanks for reading.

It would probably be smart to have something which does force a lower time limit on the disguise changes (something like 20 minutes) so you could only remove the disguise or use an oil cloth to remove a disguise after a period has passed to avoid any possible abuse with quick ID changes.

Yes for the oil cloth method. Since a cloth item, subject it to clothing bless deed-ability :)

I agree there should be a remove option or item. I think the kit shouldn't have a timer incase your mid way through whatever your up to and you revert. Takes about 30 seconds to change names within your files.

Definitely the oil cloth idea is the best.

Any change to disquise kits should include requirement to maintain a real stealing skill.

Oil cloth would be awesome. Perfect that history SON!

Can we also get a fix for character IDs being hard coded into the website? If you know a toon's ID number, you can find out their real name when they are kitted. One of a couple methods, I suppose.

The oil cloth idea is a great one, and I also agree with Mes on the requirement of the stealing skill to use. Can't say I agree with the character ID being hard coded to the website. Would sort of defeat the purpose of the kit, no?

Character ID is already hard coded. This ends up making name change deeds also fairly useless since anyone can toss your profile page
into an internet wayback machine and see who your character used to be.

    For instance, my PK, 2-18-16

Character heads show the NEW name of a character as well, not the name of the character you necessarily killed.

Yeah, that one is a pretty big bummer (the heads, not the website links/waybacks).

PS: Those 573s are pretty drab. You need to upgrade.

This is exactly what I was about to write and someone beat me to it. Effectively rendering NCD's useless. People pay this 100k expecting to stay anonymous with their new name and most do not know how easy it is.
