I've been playing this shard for about a week now, and my dexxer (mace/anat/tac/heal/mus/disco/resist) is coming along very nicely. I enjoy the playstyle and it rakes in a decent amount of gold, farming ettins and lizardmen wherever I can find 'em.

My goal is to farm up enough to get a decent house and go from there. Problem is, I wanna make a new guy now.

In my mind, I want to make a build that benefits heavily from exploration and maybe a gathering skill or two. I love the combat in this game, but I also want to have access to a playstyle that doesn't completely rely on killing things... and still makes that schmoney.

    I have a few ideas:

    Dungeon Lockpicker (LP/Hiding/Stealth/Detect/???)
    - sneak around mobs and loot chests, not sure how easy that's gonna be

    Fisherman (Fishing/???)

    - get maps and MIBs for selling or using for more chests, maybe wring a few serpent necks. Is a viable tamer-fisher possible?

    Treasure Hunter (???)

    - hunting... treasure.

    Gatherer (Mining/LJ/Swords/???)
<- I'll make this one eventually, just not for this character.

    Hobo (Wrestling/Begging/Camping/
    ... just kidding

I'm not sure if this is even a reasonable idea, but I'd love to get someone's opinion on this. I don't really have the gold to start a crafter yet, so I'm kinda just looking for a way to mix up my money-making portfolio. Weird and unique ideas are welcome of course.

    Thanks <3

Hey there, welcome to the shard!

There`s quite a lot to do with non combat builds. My main toon is a lockpicker, you can check it here:

    http://www.uorenaissance.com/player/2570377

I say main because is the one I enjoy most to play. Not exclusively picks chest, but I use it to go around, check house`s security and such.

Also, check this thread I made about lockpicking:

    https://uorforum.com/threads/a-little-insight-on-lockpicking-work-in-progress.53732/

Regarding fishing, its a neat aspect of the game. You can do lots of money just out of it, but they also say there`s no money in fishing... better check it out yourself ;)

Tamer fishers are very valid, but I also link you to these useful guides:

    http://uorforum.com/threads/kirbys-all-in-one-fishing-system.22216/

    http://uorforum.com/threads/ahirmans-all-in-one-fishing-macro-s.22222/

You also have the BOD system, made entirely for crafters which can be highly profitable. You will need time and a flow of resources (or money to buy resources) for the better, but you can also build up slowly a BOD addiction :)

    check these guides:

    https://uorforum.com/threads/the-business-of-bulk-orders.16637/

Hope you find all of this useful. Enjoy!

    Thanks for the welcome!

I had nothing but time today, so I did a buncha reading and I decided to start a lockpicker with a similar build to yours: (LP/Mage/Med/Hiding/Stealth/ItemID/Detect)

I'm gonna use Detect Hidden for the LP bonus 'till I don't need it anymore. I'll probably swap it out for Cartography once I get a little further in my training. Treasure maps are always fun, but I'm afraid that I may struggle against the spawns without Eval.

The guides are a huge help too. The lockpicking chart you made is nuts!

I burnt myself out on BODS on OSI, but knowing me, I will definitely relapse and start crafting leather caps like a madman.

The help is much appreciated <3

edit: I could always substitute Detect for Eval as well. Looks like I have plenty of experimentation to do (lol)

Yeah, the lockpicker I have is not suitable for doing tmaps alone. I use it to decode and dig up chests. At first I used a provo dexxer to handle spawn until I made a tamer which allows me to do up to lvls5 alone quite fast.

The natural way of a lockpicker is a tmapper(where the big money is).... with the right build you can do level 3 and even level 4 tmaps alone... with a single char...

    I started with a rogue :
    ItemID
    Cartography
    Lockpicking
    Hiding
    Magery
    Stealth
    Detect hidden.

After i gmed lockpick i changed to
    ItemID
    Cartography
    Lockpicking
    Provocation
    Magery
    Meditation
    Music

With a few summons and provo you can go trough level 3 tmaps easily.. But is not so fun as a lockpicker...
