I'm looking for a logical answer for this one.

Reagents are one of the most necessary resources in the game. Most players' character templates require them.

Much more than cotton, for example, which receives the unattended gump.

Why then is it okay for players to macro spam "(the local vendor names) buy" in a macro complete with gold and reagent swap organizers, over and over again while unattended?

Delucia Bank is the prime example of this.

The problem I have with it is here an afk player is wiping out the reagent resources in one of two reagent vendors in t2a, giving an unfair advantage over the Actual Attended Player who might actually need it instead of just stocking up.

    Your thoughts on the matter?

Imagine what happens when I write my macro to recall or gate into each reagent vendor on the game and I wipe the shard of reagents constantly. This will be easy, with a gated packy and macro based checks and balances. I'm a tamer, gold is no matter.
This scenario shows why unattended macroing of reagent buying is harmful to the game play of lay parsons and casual gamers.

Tl:dr? Wtf hydrox stop it man you've stranded me on a few occasions at Delucia! !

In case a yes or no doesn't fit the forum attendee's opinion of this query, I provided a troll's response as a third option in case you just think I'm stupid.

Like when GladOS was stuck in a potato on Portal 2 (spoiled potato alert). That's just silly.

AFK buying should absolutely be treated the same way AFK gathering is.

I've had this argument here for the longest time and it's always fallen on deaf ears. The most common counter argument is that reg buying, while afk or not, is a gold sink. A gold sink is good for the economy so why not turn a blind eye to the afk resource buyer.

Regs aren't just purchased afk by the guy working poisoning. Regs are also bought AFK by some who stock vendors with bulk regs (not pointing fingers). It's a pretty decent profit to be made if you are in the business of selling regs. In essence you are gold farming afk.

A white zombie, you are like my mental twin: http://uorforum.com/threads/afk-resource-gathering-reg-buying.13838/#post-122628

And the conclusion: I don't know. It's just so plain obvious that NPC buying needs an AFK gump too, I have no idea why @Chris hasn't done anything about it, although it's brought up regularly.

PS: If you read all these threads with similar suggestions (e.g. ghost commanding of boats, AFK reg buying, the green event center gates that are up all the time (right now too as I am writing), heads that change their names when using disguise kits, the official listing of counselors and perhaprs more important patch testers, making Ocllo a steal-region, the ridiculous low amount of AFK gumps when fishing, the possible use of golem shovels WITHOUT the mining skill, providing reasonable AR values to phoenix armor, Event center discussion part 2, I am sure there were much more, but I dont want to search through forums all day) you will recognize that either always the same mechanic abusing suckers are against it (Hi and a middle finger to all of you who feel adressed), or that although bright consense might exist, but Staff isn't changing anything.
I still enjoy this shard every day and appreciate @Chris for all that he is doing. He is investing alot time in this shard already and is the best GM I ever saw. But sometimes, I just wish that instead of CuB or another event the existing stuff could be improved and balanced. There are so many player suggestions around for spicing up mob spawns, revitalizing T2A Khaldun, improving the standard mining without the battle, buffing archery, buffing poison, new player house types,... so much more, I dont want to list them all.

I voted yes, doesn't bother me. Shameless plug though, regs at BBC are all bought by hand :D

On other shards, you couldn't place faction vendors in homes. Did I see vendors in a home here?

    1) place faction reagent vendor
    2) strategically place small house (Add: So that you have access to placed vendors that are outside)

The truth is that while you can argue Gold Sink, it's really an investment for the guys who take the time to unattended macro buy 24/7, based on profiting which in fact creates more gold.

So El Horno, your argument in Blackeye's thread is invalid.

I'm originally from hybrid. My buddies made mills off of selling regs. Anyone caught macroing reg buying blatantly was banned or had their stacks deleted like they were afk mining or woodbanging or using easyUO. There were actual faction vendors in towns, and all factions battled for supremacy, unlike here where the shadowdorks are the only active ones. And the faction vendor prices were less than mage shops, a little OP imo, hence the mills.

"In order to combat the problem of unattended gathering and selling the Renaissance staff have created a system that will monitor these activities. Since no free shard can have staff online around the clock to respond to player complaints about unattended macro'ers an automated system was needed."

    Well uh. .. wait what?

The question is poorly worded, so I hope I voted correctly.

AFK buying should absolutely be the same as resource gathering. These refs get flipped for profit, those an economy item.
