Building your Avatar: Stats and Skills Ultima Online is a unique game because you have complete control over what your character can do. Want to be a pure mage? Fighter? Hybrid? Theif? Mage-theif? Mage-theif-blacksmith? You get to build your character whatever way you want with only 2 limitations: You can only have 225 total Stat points and 700 total Skill points. Templates: Character Templates by Tater Salad Stats Skills Skill (Title): Strength / Dexterity / Intelligence For each skill, the skill, title, and contributions from Strength, Deterity, and Intelligence are shown. You'll also find mini guides and links to guides for each skill. Feel free to contribute for skills that are lacking information.
...but, you do gain blacksmith by directly pushing a button. A passive skill would be something you gain doing something else. You gain focus (AoS+) by losing stam. You gain meditation by losing mana. You gain animal lore by taming. You gain anatomy by healing and fighting. You gain tactics by fighting. You gain lumberjacking (to 60) by fighting with an axe. Those are all skills that can be gained by never pushing a button labeled with the skill. Blacksmith you HAVE to use blacksmithing (yes slightly indirectly by using a smith's hammer, I see your loophole) to make items and gain skill, but you aren't gaining blacksmith by, let's say, tailoring. Therefore, blacksmith is an ACTIVE skill since you are ACTIVELY using it. Now, to the next subject. Yes, Gharik has a guide going but it's incorrect and hasn't been updated with the fixes players have posted yet either, so I see no problem in combining them seeing as Gideon Jura is active on his topic. Also, GJ added/is adding a lot of extra stuff making this a Guide to Guides, where Gharik's is strictly a skill guide.
You could say item activated skill such as blacksmithing, lumberjacking, mining, tailoring, music. These are activated by using an item, button activated are used with blue buttons. Passive is like tactics or weapon skills.
Exactly. Think of a tool as a button to press. I see where your thought comes from, but when you think of what a passive skill actually is, you really can't count any crafting. Anyway, great guide. If this is all we can nitpick on you're doing pretty good When you use DarkWing's guide as a reference, make sure to take into account all the updates we've made that he hasn't added yet.
Well done Gideon. I may as well delete my previous thread. I haven't been able to keep up with it... been working 50-90 weeks and I'm in the process of moving. I've barely been able to keep up my vendors heh. Let me know if you need anything and I'll try and help you expand on this.
I went from 94.6 tinkering to GM with just under 8k ingots making heating stands and chucking them in trash
